Give me a procedure to be cheap in this situation?

I just started a diet. I work out every day, have for about a year, and I finally decided to start dieting as well. I’m not fat; I just want to maximize my workouts.
That being said, I am an extraordinarily cheap man. I have a box of boil-in-a-bag rice I bought from Kroger. Inside the box, there are 4 bags of rice. The directions say to submerge the bag and microwave it for 10 minutes. I think this can be accomplished with a Styrofoam cup for the water cooler, or the jar I use to hold my pens. That is all fine. The problem is, the bag of rice has 2 servings. I don’t want 2 servings, I want 1 serving. How can I make boil-in-a-bag rice with office supplies if I want to cook one serving? Can I store the cook rice? Below are my known assets. Help me be cheap people.
It should be noted, the box was $1.40.
Known assets:
Plastic bag I used for my sandwich. (Ziploc – Can I store the extra rice and heat it again tomorrow? If so, how?)
Styrofoam cup
Glass jar
Microwave
Also, normal office supplies
I want the left over rice for tomorrow!
Let’s go Jellies, I expect miracles.

Rice stores in fridge nicely. Just add a little water to it and re-microwave when you’re ready to eat it.
Yes to all! Sure rice keeps for a while! The very best rice to use for, like, chicken fried rice is rice that’s been cooling in the fridge over night.
Really? I thought it dried out and was unable to be eaten?
@mowens Well, keep it covered if you can, and yes, to a certain extent the water from it does evaporate more than it has when you eat rice right off the stove. And that’s exactly why it makes the best rice for stir fry. It comes out firm not gooey.
You are my hero!
Eat one lunch of Cup Noodles for 30 cents. Save the styrofoam cup and use that as your cooking container. It is made from a different material than the usual coffee cup and is designed to be microwaved.
You can store the cooked rice for at least a week in the refrigerator if you keep it in the glass jar. It washes out very easily with office supplied soap.
Keep up the good work.
Also, unbuttered pop corn is good for a diet. You can buy them in individual servings, and they do a good job of filling you up.
do NOT put styrofoam in the microwave (what the heck are you donig with styrofoam in the first place, haven’t they banned that stuff yet?)
LOL seriously, if you nuke styrofoam it releases chemicals that I don’t think you want to be getting into your food and then into you
Cook rice according to package directions
eat half
put the other half in the glass container
for future reference, quick cooking rice is more expensive than the regular stuff. for you $1.40 four servings you could buy brown rice in bulk and have more servings along with a product that is less processed and has more fibre and therefore is better for your diet
It was a disaster. I couldnt get the bag open after I cooked it. NO ONE HAD SISSORS!
And the rice exploded. :( It is a sad day for rice kind.
if you’re cheap (i prefer frugal) the cheapest way to go is to buy regular rice. cook it on stove at home, take it to work in container. you can just leave it at room temperature and eat it that way if you have to.
@mowens…. Are you an engineer, by chance?
I am in IT, specifically a Network Engineer. :) Out of curiosity, how did you know?
ROFL!!! Because normal people need opinions and ideas. Engineers need “procedures”! HA HA HA HAHAHAHA!!
hahahahahahaha.
I think outside of the box! I invent procedures! But I don’t know anything about rice, it is a variable. :)
Oh, that’s great! You’re a really smart dude who gets his butt kicked by rice! ROFL!! I’m going to be laughing all day!
Hahhaaha you called me smart! I finally fooled someone! ;)
Please don’t put strofoam in the microwave, it’ll kill you! Why don’t you just not use a bag and strain the rice after heating it in water. You don’t need the bag. You should cook rice at home and freeze it in servings if you want to be frugal. Get a bag and cook in saucepan w/ water at home.????
Maybe lay the bag flat.Divide the rice evenly between left and right. Then cut the bag down the middle and tape the open ends. Smaller bags, same procedure.
