Medicaid and state residency?

Asked by marmoset (1341points) July 30th, 2010 from iPhone

If you were approved for Medicaid in one state, then went to a doctor in that state (using Medicaid to pay) but gave the doctor’s office a home address for yourself in a neighboring state, would that mess up your Medicaid status? Specifically, would Medicaid drop you because the qualification is state-by-state? If you have already done this, can you do anything to correct it?

It is actually a crime to apply for and receive welfare benefits from a state in which you do not reside.
