French bulldogs typically sell for quite a bit more than that, so if you find one for that price, it’s likely to be of poor quality. A better option might be to look for rescue groups in your area and get placed on their waiting list. (I am concerned about your comment of having a low budget – have you set aside money for vet visits, vaccines, food, and neutering? The ASPCA estimates the cost of a small dog in the first year is over $1,300.)

ya we have the money for all that its just we dont have to money to pay 1,500 or so for the puppy and he money for the dog and i have to pay for the puppy my self and im just a teenager but my parents would pay for all the vet stuff so if i can find one cheap then i can get one sooner

Then you may want to adjust your expectations and consider adopting from your local shelter. It’s estimated that 6–8 million animals are destroyed every year in shelters. Why not adopt someone who needs a home rather than supporting a breeder?

@ferret22736 I suggest that you not focus so much on a French bulldog, but rather find a healthy, happy mixed breed from the shelter. It will love you just as much, if not more.

You might check Craigslist, or even the animal adoption fairs at places like PetSmart. They have them on the weekends frequently.

I’m thinking about all the bulldogs I’ve heard about that have attacked people. I think you’ll have to be careful to train it well and establish a good relationship so the dog won’t even have a chance of making people think he might be dangerous. And I’ve heard of “dog test runs” where you hold the puppy in certain positions, play with it a little, take it on a small walk, to check and make sure it’s not going to be a domination struggle training him. Be careful.

@ChocolateReigns we are talking about french bulldogs… if anything thing they have the temperament of a spoiled brat. In my experience, i have NEVER met a frenchie who was aggressive (although, it is up to the owner to train and socialize the animal). They are more of a lazy companion dog or lap dog not a guardian. Oh and if they did attack someone, their ankles might be a bit scratched.

If you google french bulldog rescue, you will get numerous hits. There are rescue groups, just not as many as you might find for a lab because it is pretty much a rare breed.

ive researched into this so much and havent really found many people who are reliable or are way to expensive

Thedefinitive answer is that if you want a reliably bred French bulldog you are going to have to get extremely lucky or spend a lot of money. Often, purebred adoption dogs or rescue dogs have some kind of problem or were from a puppy mill. If you want to know what you are getting, you will probably have to poney up the money. If you can divorce yourself from being wedded to that breed, you can find a really nice dog to adopt from a local shelter.

@Rememberme Oh OK. I didn’t know that. Now I’m a little less worried. :) Thanks for correcting me.

you are more likely to find a pug, boston terrier, or dachshund (small and stay small) at a rescue or shelter.
