What FedEx service is right for me?

Asked by MyNewtBoobs (19069points) August 2nd, 2010

I’m trying for the first time to get FedEx to pick up a package, but I’m absolutely baffled by all the different options. The package is 24×22 x 29 inches and weighs 29.2 pounds, and I’m shipping to somewhere in the continental USA (from the continental USA). After that, I’m really going for affordability more than anything else. Which service do I choose?

The FedEx employees are really helpful. Why not call their 800# if you cannot get the answers from their online site? An actual agent will be able to provide you with all of the options that will best fit your needs. They will also ask you the value of the package. That has made a difference in the cost for some that I have sent. You can also arrange for them to pick it up if you don’t live close by to one of their offices or mail boxes.

If you are looking for affordability then why not consider USPS? The postal service picks up and delivers for a lower price than non-union FedEx.
Just a suggestion. It’s not as if I get a commission from them.

@AstroChuck Because it is actually more expensive for this particular package.

Fed Ex Ground will be the least expensive.

Use the Fed Ex online calculator and choose “Get Detailed Quote” for exact figures.

@papayalily- That surprises me. Tell me the weight and measurements of the parcel as well as the destination zip and I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to give you a lower quote from USPS.
