Is a stamp legal tender in the uk?
I’ve heard if you were to pay for something of the same value with a stamp/stamps in the uk it has to be accepted, is this true?

No, I’m afraid only coins and notes issued by the Bank of England or the Bank of Scotland are legal tender in the UK. Stamps have changed in recent years, whereas they used to have a monetary value attached to them i.e. 32p they now only bear the 1st Class or 2nd Class symbol.
Thanks :) more help full than the first answer
@ninahenry I have a had a few shops refuse Scottish money in the past, it’s a bit annoying.
@RareDenver I don’t know why people do it (I didn’t when I was given it) but legally, they can.
well to be honest I didn’t think you could but someone told me once because it has the queens head on it if you were short 30 pence or something and had a stamp you could use that and the shop couldn’t refuse. And I did think how ridiculous it was my self at the time but other people have mentioned it since and id thought I’d just be sure and clear that up for them :)
@fallengrace that doesn’t happen, maybe it did for those people, but you can’t pay for things with stamps.
once you could cash stamps in at the Post office i believe, but no longer
