Why can't I drag songs onto my iPhone?

I don’t get it, the “manually manage music” box is ticked but I still can’t drag songs from the library onto my device.
The same happens with my iPod Classic.
Any ideas what I might be doing wrong?
Thanks in advance

Is it formatted as Mac and you’re on Windows?
@aprilsimnel I’ve tried it but it doesn’t solve my problem, unfortunately…
@dverhey It’s formatted as Mac and I’m on a Mac.
One other box that you might need to worry about:
Click on your iPod in iTunes, then go to the “Music” tab. Is “Sync Music” checked? It shouldn’t be. Mine isn’t (though I had to uncheck it myself, even after going in and telling it that I wanted to manage my music manually) and I have no issues dragging from either of my Win7 machines to my iPod Touch,
@jerv Yes, it’s not checked but I still can’t move songs around :/
I have no idea how, but I just connected my iPhone to my Mac again and now it’s working as it usually did! Problem solved!
Thanks anyway for your help guys!
