Go for the phone. I made the mistake of getting the touch and had to return it because of the limited wi-fi networks in my area. Everytime I wanted to look something up, I had no network access.

I agree I scored a used iPhone from a friend of mine for 250. The iPhone should be under warrantee still if you question the battery of a used phone. My friend has a itouch and wishes he bought an Iphone just for the purpose of its other options

iPhone. But I think the touch is cool too!

I think both are awesome, and I am not sure if they’ve mentioned higher capacities for either, but if they came out with a capacity similar to the iPod classic for the touch, I’ll buy it, even if they do the same for the phone, since plugging an iPhone into a dock causes interference with most speakers, and turning airplane mode off is an inconvenience.

For me, definitely the iPhone.

phone. If you want an iPod get an 80gb for less. The phone is amazing

iPhone gets you:
+ phone (obviously)
+ EDGE (less reliance on wifi)
+ camera
= $399 / $499

iPod Touch gets you:
+ memory
= $399 / $499

So, I say Phone but I could see getting an iPod Touch if you don’t need a phone or camera.

I probably should have been a bit more specific in my answer, I have an iPhone, and I love it, and the idea of having a matching iPod, even though there is an iPod on the phone, is appealing to me(all about gadget coordination!), but I need more space than the touch offers, right now I have a 30 gig 5th ten classic, and ran out of room years ago, an 80 gig would work for me, but my library grows by leaps and bounds every year, so I’ll soon be leaving 80 gigs behind, so when I saw the large capacity classic, I knew I wanted it. If they come out with a touch with that amount of space, I’d buy it.

Just so you know maverick, starting price for iPod touch is only $299

AT&T has refurbished iPhones (maybe still) for $250.

iPhone is worth the extra money hands down.

You have to pay more for iPhone and it has a camera.

iPod Touch can connect with wi-fi and the only times you need to pay is ussualy with software upgrades. It also does not in
clude a camera.

(continued because of problems with typing…)
So I’d say iPhone and iPod have different advantages and flaws. I guess it would depend of what of person you are.

I would say they’re about equal.

If you want to make calls, you are going to have one hell of a time on the iTouch!!!

Earnbos, ya thanks but the $299 Touch is only 8GB, so not worth considering over the iPhone IMHO. Worth mentioning though, so thanks.

def the iPhone. But aren’t they the same? Isn’t the only diff that one is a phone and one isn’t??

Theotherkid's avatar

get this…
The iPod Touch has a slightly higher screen resolution than the iphone.
iPod touch= 163 pixels per inch
iPhone= 160 pixels per inch

I say the iPhone
I’m posting this answer from my iPhone
I highly recommend the iPhone
The itouch has pretty much no memory for a good sized library (niether does the iPhone) but the iPhone has free updates, camera, youtube and safari everywhere, mail that comes with it :)
if u were looking for and iPod I would recommend the iPod classic 5th gen or iPod video

I’m 13 and I got
MacBook pro
iPhone 8gb jailbroken
itouch 16 gb (idk why) haha
Ipod classic 60gb
iMac g5
