Can I combine an OTC sleep aid with Tylenol to help me rest tonight?

Asked by jonsblond (44188points) August 9th, 2010

It’s too late to call the doctor. I have a terrible sore throat, fever and body aches. All I have in the house is tylenol and an OTC sleep aid that I occasionally take to help me sleep.

Can I combine the two to help me sleep tonight? We’ve got a nasty bug going through our house, possibly strep, so I know what I am sick with.

Depends what the OTC sleep aid is but probably. You can positively take benadryl and tylenol together. That is all that Tylenol PM is. Hope you feel better.

Benadryl knocks me out. Hopefully it will work for you @jonsblond if you have some in the house. Feel better!

It is my understanding that it would be O.K. But hopefully you are already asleep by now. Gargle with salt water, if that doesn’t work, see a doctor. Hope you feel better soon.

Depends on what you plan to take and how much. If you are stuffy you can take pseudoephedrine, which should also help you sleep

Thanks everyone. I still feel like crap, but at least I slept ok. No problems taking both.
