Generation is dor; together , I believe, is yached or b’yached.

You are looking for the transliteration from Hebrew to English. (phonetic. )

Phonetic spelling of “generation” would be “jenerashun.”

gayle is right – you are looking for something called “transliteration” – hebrew words written with english letters, so they can be read by someone who does not read the hebrew alphabet. If you google hebrew and transliteration and translation you can probably find a tool you can use for further searches. In the meantime:

generation = dor, umbrella = mitriyah, together = b’yachad, village = k’far, neighborhood = sh’chunah

@zenele: That is a site I use a lot, but it translates and does not transliterate.

Thus, “I am happy” turns out to be ”אני שמח.” Now I have to reference the Hebrew Alphabet site, here. remember to work from right to left and struggle through the issue of the vowels.

Is that a “sh” or an “s”? Ech Shema?
