Love yourself first.
The story behind it?
Helping others without helping myself first and getting hosed because of it. Did that twice, will not do it again.
Treat others like you want to be treated.
You can never be certain about anything and nothing is as it seems.
@mrentropy , do you think some people can make a full circle turn and change their ways or do you believe that no matter what happens we all keep our bad habits?
“You’re made of good stuff. You can do it.” – my Grandma
“You deserve just as much happiness as the next guy” – my Mom
Deserve it but don’t always get it.
Most times parents DO know better!
As you walk down the fairway of life you must smell the roses, for you only get to play one round.
– Ben Hogan
I am still trying to learn that just because I want or expect someone to do something or act a certain way doesn’t mean that they will do so.
That life isn’t always fair and that YOU are solely responsible for your own happiness. How do I know? I grew up poor and from an abused household, and yet I’ve still made something of myself. Am I where I want to be yet? No. Am I working on getting there? Yes. I try very hard to not have pity parties for myself. I take what life throws at me and keep on going. “I’ll get a break when I’m dead” :)
Life has no meaning, what is, is.
That the chance that the bread will fall buttered side down is directly proportional to the cost of the carpet.
Most everybody. Almost every—single—one. Has no fucking clue what the fuck they are doing with themselves so don’t expect them to know what to do with you. Just find those who will work with you to figure things out and make yourselves as strong as possible in every way possible.
a lesson I’m still learning
That good things never last.
Never pass up a free lunch
The Serenity Prayer pretty well sums it up.
Sleep on it before you react to an angry email.
Find joy in the little things. At the end of the day, when you’re tempted to go through you list of woes, make a point to seriously count up all the good things that happened that day. I think it’s human nature to remember the bad, and forget the good. Don’t do that.
Sorry about that email, @mattbrowne! I thought the fact that you’re in a whole other day zone was the same as sleeping on it! I thought it was even BETTER than sleeping on it!
