Clare Torry is a British singer, best known for her soulfully evocative wordless vocals on Pink Floyd’s “The Great Gig in the Sky” on the 1973 album The Dark Side of the Moon.
^^ Yup.
On the DVD Pulse, Durga McBroom also is apart of Great Gig in the Sky. I love her vocals.
Us…Us…us…us…...and…......... them….them….them….them….............
Liza Strike and Doris Troy were on there as backing vocals. Is Leslie Duncan male or female?
Breathe, breathe in the air.
Don’t be afraid to care…
The album’s credits include Clare Torry, a session singer and songwriter, and a regular at Abbey Road. She had worked on pop material and numerous cover albums, and after hearing one of those albums Parsons invited her to the studio to sing on “The Great Gig in the Sky”.

The documentary called Pink Floyd: The Dark Side of the Moon touches a bit on her and how she put her part of Great Gig in the Sky together. Absolutely beautiful voice and song!
@wilhel1812, I’m very glad to know this. Decades ago somebody told me the singer was male, and I never bothered to check. LOVE THAT ALBUM !!!
I’ve got the CD liner setting beside me if anyone else has a question about that album.
Wow, thanks Fluther. I learned something tonight.
From the liner notes: Clare Torry on “Great Gig in the Sky”. Other backing vocals on the album Doris Troy, Leslie Duncan, Liza Strike, Barry St John.
Shamelessly copied from my 1973 vinyl disc liner sleeve.
