Do you remember what date of your cycle you got pregnant?

Asked by tan235 (877points) August 12th, 2010

my partner and I are trying to conceive, my cycle is 28 days long, normally it’s quite constant, however lately due to stress it’s been around 26 – 28, but generally 28.

I really hate waiting for my period every month and am wondering if there was a general time frame after your period that was better, re : if more people got pregnant 12 days after or 16 days after?

I understand ovulation however feel it is so inconstant.

What date did you fall pregnant?
how many days after your period?

Love to hear from you.
Thank you.

I conceived around 17 days. This is my son, conceived on our wedding night. So when I tried and didn’t conceive with my first daughter, we changed the ‘have to have intercourse’ to 16–19 days and it worked, twice.

Very clearly. I conceived four times during my marriage; it was the day after the last day of my period each time (day 7 or 8); I did not use birth control and thought I was safe, when I discovered I was pregnant for the first time. Luckily we were ready to have a baby, which we did.

Then I had two miscarriages. we conceived my daughter during the same “safe” day…8 or 9.

Since I was using the diaphragm, there was no issues with hormones. I did have very regular periods and cycles.

I’m amazed anyone can remember these days…I definitely can’t…the only advice I’ve got is that when you’re trying for a baby, have sex only every other day so that there is sufficient sperm reserves.

Ovulation predictors from the drugstore are fairly accurate and simple to use.

I don’t remember exactly when I got pregnant because we weren’t really trying. We had decided we would just see what happened. I didn’t actually test until I was 2 months pregnant because of some other things going on at the time.

Ovulation varies a lot from person to person. There are ovulation predictors like @JilltheTooth mentioned that can be purchased at most drug stores. I know several people that used them and were successful in getting pregnant. There are also several other ways of determining when you are fertile (such as temping and checking your cervical mucus).

I remember because it was the first time we had not used the diaphragm, and the next day my husband went off to USAF basic training for several months. Bingo.

I remember because it was a wee shock!
