You are invited to your own idea of the perfect barbecue. What do you think the menu should include? Where would the barbecue be? How would the food and tables be laid out for perfect barbecue atmosphere?

It would be at the beach. There’d be burgers and hot dogs and Polish sausages to eat, and horse shoes and volley ball to play. Of course, the ocean would be right there for cooling off.
depends on the guests. always the guests. they come first. but the perfect BBQ is right at home in an outdoor kitchen with a certain international theme or straight american fare. again it all depends on the region and the local food available. just speaking from a cook’s POV.
There would be no decor; we would be at the lake. There would be BBQ pork and chicken, grilled mixed fresh vegetables, potato salad, coleslaw, and iced tea. Then we would bring out the lemon ice box pies. Later (for those who can stand it) there would be the cutting of the watermelon.
but since i’m a guest, i want tex-mex, some jerk chicken, spicy is the order of the day, fresh colors and fruits and vegetables and spicy hot stuff. plenty of good beer or red wine. no need for potato salads or stuff with loads of mayo. just fresh, crisp greens and exotic flavors from the chef who knows how to mix it all up.
My favorite spot would be In somebody’s back yard or in the park, and I’d want ribs, beef, chicken, potato salad, slaw, bread, pickles, beer for those who drink it and Dr. Pepper for those who don’t (like me), and tons of napkins. For dessert… ice-cold watermelon and key lime pie.
I want everything that I do at my barbeques, I just want someone else to do it.
Burgers, brats, ribs, chili, fresh bread, artichoke dip, taco dip, chocolate fondue, fruit and veggie trays, pasta salad, seven layer salad, sauerkraut, a lot of good beer and an ample supply of G&Ts.
I’d love to go to a social event at which I’m not the host/guest cook/designated driver. Hasn’t happened yet. * sigh *
Shish Kabobs, hot dogs, watermelon, potato salad, and garlic bread. Plenty of beer.
Colored Christmas lights or tiki torches
a table long enough for everyone to sit at.
Kareoki
I’d want lots of raw fruits and veggies, and seafood options. And a bonfire would be great.
MIne would be a outdoor summer night BBQ under the stars with a full moon, in my yard which is magic at night, on my secluded hilltop lawn with all my solar torches and the silence of the woods.
I would have live music in the little lower spot of the yard overlooking a rugged ravine, and the menu would be similar to @Austinlad ‘s with all the usual goodies, my killer cashew cole slaw, and yes, Key Lime pie and watermelon!
I would brats and burgers.
with all the fixings.
Homemade potato salad
baked beans.
Pickles and chips.
I like a simple menu. I love tiki torches. I would light them and have it at dusk. Sit at the picnic table that has a red and white checkered vinyl table cloth.
I have one of the fire pits. We would have smores for the kids and beer for the adults.
Polynesian theme, clothing optional. Jumbo shrimp, lobster, steamed mussels, filet mignon, pig roasting over the coals, big pot of 4 alarm chili, iced watermelons spiked with vodka, homemade ice cream, frozen daquiris by the gallon, Keith’s IPA on tap.
@Seek_Kolinahr I enjoy being a behind the scenes host, come join us!
Mountain Villa
Stone courtyard overlooking a valley
Rugs and bolster pillows thrown down
Big mesh or light colored silk tenting overhead on half of the courtyard
Tables of cut watermelons, steamed corn on the cob and pickled vegetables
Wooden or metal tubs of iced caraffes containing fresh lemonade, limeade and pomogrante juices.
BBQ’s set up in a line to grill shish kabobs of lamb, beef, fish and veggies
Once the sun goes down the the tables will be cleared and re set to serve tea, nuts, candies, cakes and more fruits. Turkish coffee will be cooked on tabletop burners. There will be incense, torches and live musicians playing hand drums, guitars, flutes and a few singers to banter back and forth.
Take your pick of the food, but it would be here
