Do you wash your hair everyday?
I heard it strips it of the oils and it is harmful So I wash it like every other day. I have waited three days a couple times . I wet it and condition it everyday. Is that true or not? While I am at it, what conditioner do you use?

yes i wash it everyday with whatever shampoo is laying around
@JONESGH Your hair is not dry? Maybe I am being nasty, Awwww! at the thought.
I wash my hair every other day.
I have washed my hair pretty much everyday and only condition if I have been swimming in the pool. If I don’t wash it, then it is a hat day!
Yes.
Contrary to my avatar picture,I often comb it too XD
I wash it every second day. I’ve constantly got a bad hair day!
I wash it everyday. I have triedto leave it longer in between washes but my hair seems to get very oily when I don’t wash it everyday. I try and change my shampoo and conditioner every couple of months though.
I wash it every day, and it’s not at all dry or unhealthy. I found the key is just to use a shampoo(s) that doesn’t hurt it. I’ve tried going longer many times, and my hair just looks caked with dirt and grease – the opposite of healthy.
Yes, i have to because it get’s extremely oily overnight and there’s no way i can leave the house without washing it. (except sometimes i’m lucky if it looks ok when i tie it up when going to the gym, but i wouldn’t go out anywhere else really without washing it).
:( I didn’t always used to be like this. I use all kinds of shampoos (not salon stuff, that stuff is just unaffordable to be used continuously on a daily basis).
I think this very much depends on how much oil you produce naturally. Of course you should wash it more often if you are prone to oily hair. If you are prone to dry hair, you can ease up on the washings. :)
No, african-american hair only needs to be washed once every 1–2 weeks.
I’ve washed my hair daily all my life (constantly trying out different shampoos). Oil stripped or not, I can’t stand going even one day without doing it.
I’m not anywhere near bald, but I do have a bit less than in my younger days, whereas my my younger brother’s head looks like a Sphynx’s rear end.
My hair is very short so yes, I wash it everyday with soap. Sometimes I use whatever shampoo and conditioner my family has around.
I wash my hair every other day, and wash additionally depending on its condition. My hair is somewhat dry, so I can usually go another day without washing. However, sometimes it gets oily from hair product, in which case I wash it as needed.
I currently use Herbal Essences shampoo and conditioner, which seem to work pretty well for me. The conditioner certainly softens up my dry hair quite a bit. But I’ve used Pantene in the past and liked it, so I’m thinking of going back to that once I run out of the Herbal Essences.
@Frenchfry I just like to change it up so I don’t get bored/used to the scent of sampoos but a hairdresser friend of mine did once tell me that it was good for your hair to change shampoos from time to time and avoid shapoos that coat the hair in plastic (pantene for example).
@Leanne1986 Plastic??? I have used that shampoo. Really?
@Frenchfry It’s sillicone actually and I don’t know how true it is that the coating it leaves is bad for your hair but a few stylists have told me to stay away from it so that has stuck with me.
I wash my hair once a week. I’m mixed so it dries out bad if I do it more than that.
@Leanne1986 that is interesting to learn, because I use the medium-thick dry to moisturized on my hair.
@Leanne1986 Well I’ll stop buying it. I hope herbal essence doesn’t have it. Ill have to start reading labels.
@Leanne1986 It doesn’t have anything that almost all salon brands don’t have also, but you don’t buy it at a salon, so it’s not beneficial for stylists to say that it’s good.
“The idea that it coats your hair with plastic is a myth started by stylists to keep you from buying salon products.
The truth is, Pantene’s shampoo and conditioner formulas are believed to be among the best in the industry by those of us in the cosmetic science side of the business. It makes sense if you think about it. P&G, makers of Pantene, have a HUGE research budget. Certainly larger than any salon company. That means they can afford to dedicate resources to developing and testing the best formulas possible. We’ve seen Pantene formulas beat the pants of salon products in blind consumer testing. (The products are hidden or blinded, not the consumers)
So why do stylists say that Pantene coats the hair with plastic, or make it fall out? Because that’s what they’re told by the sales representatives for the salon companies. And the truth is, it’s just not true! Compare the ingredient lists for Pantene conditioner and any salon brand you can find.
Even though the names vary you’ll see three basic types of ingredients: fatty alcohols (like cetyl and stearyl alcohol); conditioning ingredients (like stearamidopropylamine and quaternium-18) and silicones (like dimethicone and cyclomethicone.) There’s nary a plastic to be found in Pantene. And no, it doesn’t make your hair fall out either.”

@papayalily Well now I am confused. LOL So silicone isn’t plastic?
I don’t wash my hair everyday. On non-wash days, I rinse it with diluted apple cider vinegar – which sells rank but leaves my hair shiny and lovely. It’s not really about my hair becoming dry if I was it too often, but about my scalp. I’ve yet to find the perfect shampoo that doesn’t dry me out and cause flakes. Ah well..
I was my hair at least every other day. Sometimes it’ll be daily for a while because of going swimming or getting really sweaty.
Yep. I take a shower every day and that involves washing my hair. That usually happens in the morning, but it depends on how dirty and/or sweaty I get during the day. :)
I don’t use conditioner.
Every day or in the worst case every other day. If I don’t, I feel like a walking oil well!
@papayalily Interesting. Is there anything in the myth at all? I always believed the stylists because I do find that Pantene (and Loreal for that matter) makes my hair feel a bit sticky at the roots despite how good it smells!
My hair is extremely short so “washing my hair” is more like washing my scalp. It gets washed every day because I use styling wax on it, and I use a moisturising shower-cream because I have generally dry skin. I don’t use a speciallised conditioner (doesn’t seem much point on hair that’s at most, half an inch long).
I was mine every day and use a 2 in 1 shampoo
@Leanne1986 Not really. Is it all Pantene, or just one kind (eg moisture renewal vs. classic care)?
When it was shorter, I did. Now I do it once or twice every 1–2 weeks as my mood allows. Washing my hair is like an event lol.
@Frenchfry No it doesn’t dry out, I condition every other day
When I was young I washed it everyday, now that I am older I do it every other day or sometimes every three days. I too, use the vinegar to rinse out my hair and use cream rinse. I like switch things up with my shampoo and conditioner. My daugter does hair and she get the good shampoo from the beauty supply shop and she has to use her license to get the good price.
Everyday for me. Even if I don’t plan on leaving the house.
@papayalily Every one that I have tried on it. I avoid Pantene now because of it and jut always assumed that the stylists were right and that was proof. My hair is fine but there is a lot of it and it is naturally quite oily.
No. I wash with shampoo maybe 3 out 7 days and usually rinse it in between. I blow dry and iron about once weekly.
