Should X Factor have cut a contestant because of a history of mental health problems?
Do you think they are protecting or discriminating?

The didn’t consider this when they let Susan Boyle through on Britain’s got Talent. She has learning difficulties and suffers from mental health issues.Personally i think it depends on the individuals state and they should be screened for their own protection.
@BoBo1946 Indeed, not my thing but she certainly has talent.
If they cut the contestant for that reason, they’d be guilty of discrimination based on handicap. No one is forcing these contestants to enter; actual talent should be the sole consideration. If a contestant can’t take the pressure, then drop out. This smells like lawsuit bait.
They should cut the entire pathetic excuse for a show from the schedules.I mean if it was an animal they’d have shown mercy long ago :¬)
This proves what a nanny state we live in. We have to assume that no one can take responsibility for their own actions nowadays in case they sue. I have a history of mental health issues but I would be pissed if this was used as a reason not to let me do something like in this example. I don’t think they are protecting the contestant so much as they are themselves and @second_guessing, apparently (so I read in a popular tabloid, which means it must be true~) it was because of Susan Boyle’s issues that they are considering not allowing people with mental health problems.
If Fluther did that, me, and a bunch of others, wouldn’t be here anymore. ~
