I am looking for a sweeper?

I am looking for a good quality sweeper that will not blow out dust and dirt when I use it. I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions. I currently have a small bissell and it blows dirt everywhere. I am in college and live in a one bedroom apartment so I don’t want to spend a whole lot of money. Thanks :)

Vacuum cleaner choice is such a personal thing, it’s really hard to provide any suggestions. The best thing to do is read up on them, like this site which gives some general insight on what to look for, like bag vs. filter, upright vs. canister, etc.

Reviews are also helpful, particularly when it comes from an independent site, like Consumer Reports. A subscription costs money, but the provide in-depth information.

On a personal note, I adore my Dirt Devil Hand Vac. It has a cord…the cordless ones seem relatively useless. It’s used in the bathroom, which has many edges; on carpeted stairs; and for vacuuming out the car.
