Blueberry Grape-Nut Pudding
This simple, homey baked custard (it’s like a bread pudding) has the malty flavor of Grape-Nuts and the sweet-tart accent of blueberries. It can be served for breakfast, brunch or dessert.
½ cup plus 2 tablespoons Grape-Nuts cereal
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
3 tablespoons maple syrup
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup whole milk
¼ teaspoon salt
1 cup blueberries
1 teaspoon raw or maple sugar (optional)
Whipped cream, for serving (optional)

O.K. this one is weird but good and fast if you like the ingredients. #1) Rip up two slices of white bread and stuff them into a tall glass (preferably chilled). #2) Add one to four teaspoons of ordinary sugar. Just pile it on top of the bread in the glass. #3) Do the same with (your choice) amount of cinnamon, on top of the sugar/bread. #4) Pour in ICE COLD milk over the bread/sugar/cinn. until glass is full (to top). Now eat this mess (minor stirring) with an ice tea spoon.
It’s called a SUPER DUPER. Enjoy. A cheaper/refreshing treat is non-existant.
I had a fleeting obsession with English Muffins and lemon curd. Then it was spoonfuls of peanut butter. Then it was carrot cake. Then I had my second round of morning sickness and was back to not eating.
But, pretty much anything caused heartburn – so follow everything with about 25 TUMS. You need the calcium anyway.
@ramblinjack – that sounds utterly disgusting.
Take Ritz crackers, spread on some softened cream cheese (not the whipped kind, but real cream cheese), top with a slice of cucumber. I used to be able to make a meal out of these things! (not eating crackers and cream cheese at the moment)
