How can I add "buy now" links to artists/albums/songs on my website?

Asked by Vincentt (8094points) August 25th, 2010

My in-browser music player application is coming along nicely, and now I’d like to add a feature that allows you to buy e.g. the album one is currently listening to, preferably with me getting a cut :) However, it seems like for Amazon’s affliate program, you have to be located in the US. Does anybody know of an online music store that targets international customers and affliates?

Are you selling your own songs? Usually you can find sample code on the web. You have to determine how you’re gonna deliver the file. SWF, or Mp3. that will dictate what markup or scripting language to use.

@enlil No just all kind of songs that are available in normal stores.

@johnpowell Thanks, I’ll check that out. It seems to that people need to use iTunes to download those songs… I preferably not make people dependent on a particular application other than the browser, as that is also one of the selling points of the website. (Also, I don’t have iTunes myself so I can’t test it out.)

Another downside of iTunes is that apparently you need to set up a store either for Europe or for the US or elsewhere. I’m starting to fear there’s no place I can set up a truly international affliate program though.

You can make a nice store using the Bandcamp. You get all the profit from the service, except for the $0.05 – 0.30 Paypal fees per transaction.

@Vortico Bandcamp is for selling your own songs. What I’m looking for is just a general music store like Amazon’s where people can buy most music, that allows me to promote particular products.

@Vincentt Ohh, I misunderstood your intention. In that case, I have no idea.
