This may be a dumb question, but I have no idea what to do. I just applied to a state university and they’re requesting a high school transcript and immunization records. I know I’d have to get my high school to send the transcript, but was I wrong for thinking I couldn’t get a transcript until I graduated high school? I’m a senior. Also, I can call and get my
Immunization records from
my doctor, but how do i get them to the college?
Thanks guys!

Your school can send a transcript that shows what you’ve completed so far and what you are currently taking. Then when you finish high school, they will need to send your final official transcript as well. As far as the immunization record, usually you can mail or fax it in. Call the school and ask them the best way to get it to them. If they want it faxed, you can ask your doctor’s office to fax it straight to your college. If they want it mailed, you can ask your doctor’s office to either mail it to them or mail it to you (and then you mail it to them).
This is not a dumb question. Get the address at the college where they want these records sent, and then do what you’ve said. Get your high school to send a transcript, and get your immunization records sent, too. That’s all there is to it. Not hard.
Your high school guidance counselor or whatever they’re called now, should be able to answer your questions about getting your transcript sent to the colleges you apply to and call your doctor’s office. You may need to sign something that gives them permission to release confidential medical information to the college.
You do not need to wait until you graduate to have a transcript sent, in fact this would be a bad idea as many colleges now have rolling admissions standards and doing so would raise the requirements for your acceptance. Most students apply during their senior year, or even earlier. All you have to do is fill out the necessary application paperwork, and have your guidance counselor, or whomever manages transcripts at your school, send them to your college. The college is going to look at all that you’ve done, and all that you intend to do, academically. They may request to see final transcripts after you have graduated, but this is uncommon unless you receive a conditional acceptance. Your immunization records are to prove that you are up to date on required vaccinations, and this simply needs to be faxed, mailed, or hand delivered at any point prior to your move in date.
Thanks so much! Yall cleared all my questions up. I’ve been really stressing out because my guidance counselor isn’t at school since she’s on pregnancy bed rest. Thanks again
Your doctor may require that you have a check-up and get all your shots current as a last pediatric visit (assuming you still go to your pediatrician). Many universities require a meningitis vaccine for students living in the dorm. Once you do the final exam and shots, you can usually drop the forms off at the doctors office with a stamped envelope and have it sent. Even if you do this, many practices charge a fee for the paperwork processing.
The doctor’s office will mail the record to you and you mail to the school. Yes, you can get a transcript prior to graduation. Just go see your adviser; sounds like you need help.
