Anyone have experience with sepsis?
My dad is in the ICU with sepsis. I am his caregiver, and I have no medical training whatsoever. Can anyone share any knowledge they may have on the subject?

First of all I am very sorry that your father is having this issue, and I hope he makes a good recovery.
My daughter had blood poisoning (sepsis) as a baby, and she was treated with antibiotics and intravenous liquids. I know that it is different with children than adults. We were unable to pinpoint the cause of the infection, but she did recover.
He should be ok. They’ll infuse him with antibiotics, and keep him there till they have it under control. Good luck to you and I hope you’ll both be just fine
I have a lot of experience with sepsis. Tell me more about his medical condition.
Thank you all for replying.
@Rarebear Well he’s 57, has had diabetes for 30 years (marginally controlled, glucose levels are usually 100–250) and renal failure for five. He is dialyzed 4x a week, sleeps 16 or more hours a day, and gets no exercise (he’s in a wheel chair).
OK. Well you’ve told me about his medical condition prior to the ICU hospitalization, that helps. Now tell me about what you know about his condition in the ICU. Leave out no details—tell me everything you can think of. Only then will I be able to tell you more about what is happening to him. The more details you tell me, the more I can explain for you.
By the way, just so you know, I’m an ICU doctor.
