Do mechanics see gps tracking devices on cars often?

I wonder if it is normal for mechanics to put cars on a lift and find foreign electronic tracking devices.

Do they tell the customers? Do they notice? Is this something that even a mechanic overlooks?

If my mechanic found a gps device on my car and told me about it, do I have the right to destroy it?
