If someone has naturally curly hair and has never used rollers then shaves it off will it stay curly forever?

Asked by Aster (20028points) August 28th, 2010

If my daughter , whose hair is red and curls up on its own shaved her head and donated her hair , would it stay curly on the benefactor?

If the hair is being made into a wig, I would imagine it would stay curly unless it is processed and straightened.

I’m assuming you mean “beneficiary” – as your daughter (the provider of the hair) is the “benefactor”.

The curliness of hair is determined by the shape of the hair strand. The more round the strand, the straighter. The more oblong, the curlier.

Unless the hair is chemically straightened, it will remain curly as a wig. They should be able to heat-style it straight as desired, just like normal hair (because… it is).

@Seek_Kolinahr thanks for the correction . She’s keeping it, it’s gorgeous but, being her, she dyes it black then platinum blonde then back to red.

If she dyes it too often, it will lose it’s viability and become hard and stringy, and will probably be better off ahaving her head.
