Good apartments in the Bay Area?

Asked by camertron (2117points) August 29th, 2010

My roommate and I are currently looking for apartments in the San Francisco Bay area. We’ve pretty much narrowed our search down to these cities/towns: Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Lafayette, Orinda, and Moraga. We’re looking for a two bedroom, one bathroom place that has a pleasant view from the windows and that doesn’t have a 1960s feel to it. The interior doesn’t have to be super recent modern, but it would be nice if at least a few of the walls were different colors and the kitchen had attractive, working appliances. Closeness to BART is also preferred. Anything come to mind?

Remember, a lot of the 60s decor is in fashion again and can be played up or down as you like. Many of the apartments that are extra nice go by word of mouth. I’d let everyone you know have this information.

Many of the ol’ timers don’t bother with ads, but, of course, some do. It’s tough without an unlimited wallet.

The more specific you are with your expectations, the fewer apartments you will find available. To avoid the ‘dated’ look, only look at new buildings or in new developments.

Consider asking the manager of an apartment in an area you like if you can make alterations to your choice.
