Avatars, where do they come from, how did you pick yours and how did you change it?

I was given my Avatar on joining. I don’t know anything about them. I get a kick out of seeing what people choose and understand some change theirs.

Normally, they’d be of some vintage celebrity I love. But right now, it’s of the Oregon Coast.
Mine came with the ...Hey, you stole my avatar @zzc…. Please return it immediately!
@Ben_Dover and @zzc : You both better watch your furry feline butts! My avatar foolishly has no fear of you guys!!!
This is the avatar that I use on most social networking sites so that it is easy for people I “know” to know it’s me. The pic is my dog Pinky. I think she looks as if she is smiling in this photo so it makes me happy. I wouldn’t change my avatar.
I’ve had the same one for years. It’s me, in Vulcan costume, for Hallowe’en one year.
Mine is me. On my bed. Wearing a sweatshirt I got in Myrtle Beach when I was 15.
Wembley is my favourite muppet from Fraggle Rock. I just thought it would be nice to sign in every day and see him :)
Of all the muppets, I am most like him.
Mine is a sunset I photographed from my bedroom window… [if you want to change yours, go to your account, then view your external profile – next to your avatar is the word “edit”... you can then upload anything you like] :-)
Mine is a picture of my telescope.
Mine is just a picture I found years ago that I’ve always liked.
Mines is of me in my penguin blanket. It is also the only picture I like of myself enough to set it as my avatar.
Xena and Gabrielle acting like weirdos. I don’t recall what episode it’s from actually, but I think it looks funny.
Xena rules, denno much what else to tell ya.
