I am a fan of both This American Life and The Moth podcasts from NPR. Wondering if anyone out there can recommend specific favorite episodes that I should download.

Search for a Frank Sinatra commemorative on This Am Life, one of my favorite radio shows (there’s a great iPhone/iPod app for it). There’s also an excellent episode about home movies.
“Shooting Dad” by Sarah Vowell on TAL.
Depends on what you are looking for, but “The Giant Pool of Money” was one of the most popular TAL podcasts. It might be irrelevant now.
The one about the groups that try to scam Nigerian scammers is pretty entertaining.
There’s one about a early childhood education program in Harlem that focuses on teaching parenting skills to parents of kids age 0–3 that has proved to be wildly successful. It’s a good listen.
Another good one is about the “Rubber Room” in the NYC school system, which is like limbo for teachers who are on “administrative leave” for disciplinary reasons. Essentially, they draw a paycheck (sometimes for a year or two) to show up in an empty building and sit there.
Wow, @kevbo. I don’t catch TAL all that often, but I have heard every single one of the shows you mentioned.
There is also, of course, the famous David Sedaris Santa’s Elf story, which is now replayed every year. Ick. I am so tired of that story. It’s as bad as the job itself, now. I almost wish TAL had never recorded it.
