When will the war crimes trials begin?

Asked by Ron_C (14485points) September 1st, 2010

I am tired of waiting for just to be brought to the Bush regime for lying to congress, providing false testimony on the danger posed by Iraq to the United States. I want justice for the thousands of soldiers and hundreds of thousands of Iraqis killed because of oil, greed, arrogance, and just plain murderous intent.

Obama brought combat troops out of Iraq but left 50 thousand “advisers” and an additional 7000 mercenaries in a country were we have no business being.

I am truly disappointed that nothing has been done to bring justice to Bush, Cheney, Rice, Rumsfeld and the journalists and pundits that knowingly aided and abetted these crimes. How long must we wait. I don’t care if Cheney is sick or Rumsfeld is old, I want justice now! There is no reason to avoid the investigations and trials and if it is not done soon, the Republicans and Neocons will provide cover and these murders and liars will never be punished. We punished the Nazis, we must punish these criminals.

Don’t hold your breath. We still have not tried any from Vietnam yet, at least not over the rank of Captain.

You will be waiting a lonnnnnnnng time. It will not happen. It would be too devastating to the office of the Presidency,

Ron_C's avatar

@WestRiverrat good point, They have made the culprits heroes and the heroes culprits. We can see it now in the run up to the November elections.

Ron_C's avatar

@marinelife the presidency has grabbed too much power under Bush and the Obama administration has kept it, That is one of the many disappointments from an administration that promised hope and change.

@Ron_C,

You should tag this next to the question.

Bullshit is commonly used to describe statements made by people more concerned with the response of the audience than in truth and accuracy Source

Ron_C's avatar

@Neutral what? I assume that you mean that bullshit was the reason we attacked and occupied Iraq.

josie's avatar

War crimes trials are usually held by the victors for the surviving vanquished.
It won’t happen.
I suggest you consider finding something else to be upset about.

Neutral's avatar

@Ron_C,

No, you assumed wrong. It was directed at you.

Ben_Dover's avatar

Thjere will be no war crimes trial for the Bush family. They have bought and paid for their justice.

Dewey420's avatar

I like this one. I didn’t even know about any Trials.. I’m sure glad it’s not just being swept under the rug tho.

Ron_C's avatar

@Neutral what, exactly, is the bullshit?

Ron_C's avatar

Unfortunately, @Dewey420 , there are no impending trials, and I doubt that the Attorney General is even considering them. The are “afraid of tearing the country apart”. That is political speak for “some of my friends may be hurt in the investigations.

Dewey420's avatar

@ron c and that to me is very scarey.. if they can get away with what they did scott free.. what’s going to be next.

Neutral's avatar

@Ron_C,

You’re asking the wrong question. You should be asking where is the truth of anything you wrote in your question?

Ron_C's avatar

@Neutral are you actually saying that all of the run-up to the war was true? Are you saying that Bush or Cheney didn’t have a hidden agenda? Are you saying that Rumsfeld actually told the truth (about anything)? Are you saying that hundreds of thousands of people died for a good reason?

Rather than call me a bullshitter, back up your statement with facts.

Ron_C's avatar

Thanks Dewey you seem to be my greatest supporter.

Dewey420's avatar

I’m with you Ron, shit is just getting too outa hand.

Neutral's avatar

@Ron_C,

You’re the accuser, so, you back up your statements. We’re innocent until proven guilty in this country, and that’s when you’re already involved in the legal system. It hasn’t even come to that.

Ron_C's avatar

I’m not the accuser, I am one of the victims. Those wars and policies put our country where it is now and endangered my relatives.

I am asking why hasn’t a trial began, there is plenty of evidence that all concerned lied and even admissions that they did lie on the basis that the end justifies the means. Why are you so defensive for an obviously corrupt political system and so against doing the right thing?

Neutral's avatar

@Ron_C,

Where is this plenty of evidence? You showed none. If there was plenty of evidence it would of been dealt with by the legal system, long ago. You’re nothing but a conspiracy theorist. There is no corruption other then your accusations. The right thing is what is current. The wrong thing is your movement.

Ron_C's avatar

@Neutral I have to go now, party time. I’ll look up some sources, there must be thousands, and post some tomorrow. Bye for now.

Neutral's avatar

@Ron_C,

Alright, and remember, evidence, not liberal propaganda and conspiracy theories. If that’s all you plan on presenting then don’t bother. It will be precisely why there is never going to be a trial for these “hidden agendas” you speak of.

Ben_Dover's avatar

@Neutral The biggest piece of evidence against Bush and his cronies is the lack of evidence. Do you remember Weapons of Mass Destruction?
For gosh sakes, we killed Sadam Hussein and he was a personal family friend of the Bush family, and he was a staunch ally of ours against Iran way back when.
We have spent trillions of dollars on this futile game we are playing in the MidEast for oil and poppies (heroin—Afghanistan) ... We did the same thing in Vietnam (poppies for heroin and other opiates).
Do you really not understand this?
We spent those trillions while we in America watched the housing boom turn into a horror show and while the US government, against the will of the people, spent trillions more bailing out failing banks…who were failing because they are run by imbeciles.
It goes on…

Neutral's avatar

@Ben_Dover,

Now, where is the evidence that there is lack of evidence and evidence to everything else you just said? WMD had mixed reviews and was not the only reason for the war. Furthermore, where is the evidence to what laws of war did President Bush violate to be considered as War crimes?

ratboy's avatar

My God! It’s not as if any of those psychopaths did anything serious like get a blowjob.
