Is it true Coca-Cola wanted to put a giant neon billboard in orbit?
I heard many many years ago that this was the case and that this was forbidden globally. Any idea?

There is an amazing web tool called google. I used it and found this, and this. Looks like no. I don’t know who would even have “global” authority. The one site does say that coca-cola was the first sparkling beverage to be served in outer space. That should count for something, one supposes.
Ya, it’s gonna be in orbit with the giant Burger Boy too.
The Admen at Coca-Cola may actually have wanted to, but one look at the cost to do it and the idea would be nixed. We can barely see the Int’l space station, can you imagine how big the billboard would have to be for it to be easily recognised from earth?
Sounds like Heinlein’s short story “The Man Who Sold the Moon” and wanted to alter the moon to look like a soda pop ad.
Huh, who says they can’t? No one owns space.
@johnny A giant, orbiting Burger Boy? For real? That’s awesome.
It’s probably apocryphal, but knowing the the ad game well, I’m betting if it’s true, whoever first came up with the idea got laughed out of the room the first time he suggested it.
