What Are Some Great Road Trip Songs?
I have a 20+ hour road trip coming up and will only have my 2 dogs for company. Can anyone suggest some good upbeat, high energy, fun to belt out knowing no one will be subjected to my tone deaf vocal abilities songs to throw on a mixed CD? I have pretty eclectic tastes when it comes to music so would appreciate any and all favorites people have to share! Thanks!

I’m going to shoot the first person to suggest 99 bottles of beer.
Well since there’s a death threat out on 99 bottles, I’m gonna suggest The Wheels on the Bus. =D
Boy howdy, @Trillian sure does know how to spoil a good time.
How about “This is the song that never ends. It just goes on and on my friend…”
or how about “I know the song that everybody knows, everybody knows. I know the song that everybody knows, and this is how it goes.”
Thanks all for some great suggestions. A few I’m unfamiliar with so some introductions to new bands/artists may come from this as well :)
99 Bottles of beer…..Wheels on the bus…...The song that never ends…... I think the irritation factor is a significant part of any appeal those hold. As it will just be me in the car, I would only be subjecting myself to the faster onset of frayed nerves! Maybe I will set them aside for any periods of self-loathing excessive driving may trigger!
@uberbatman I do not like all music but like something from virtually all genres. Love PJ Harvey. If I was to pick a favorite, it would be late 70’s early 80’s punk, but don’t know how conducive the Dead Kennedys and Iggy and the Stooges would be to maintaining energy and an “all I want to do is keep on driving” state of mind. I think, if dispersed, a good Clash or Buzzcocks song would give me a boost but too much would burn me out :) Some favorite bands are the Pixies, Liz Phair, Velvet Underground, Sebadoh, Pavement, Arcade Fire, and Bowie. I’m trying to think of good driving songs not from my usual repertoire so I don’t run into the so sick of the song feeling as quick!
