To be honest, I haven’t seen the original, but from what I have seen through the marketing of this film both online and on television, I see this movie being nothing more than a small step up from “Shutter”. The movie looks like nothing special, to be completely honest. As usual, one can expect many, many, repeated “jump” or “pop-up-from-behind-you” scares.
Of course, this pretty much garantees that the film will open to $12m+, unfortunately.
I don’t think it will be better. Not at all. Remakes of horror movies never seem to be better than their originals. In the 70’s and 80’s the script and the acting were important. So you had movies that relied on a good story and decent acting. It helped make an unbelievable story believable. Now the only thing that audiences and film makers want is hot people and lots of gore. Those 2 things do not make a movie good. So, prom night will have some hot girls and cut guys, lots of blood and no quality.
