Without Craigslist "adult services", how am I supposed to get hookers?

Asked by MyNewtBoobs (19069points) September 4th, 2010

So for the US, Craigslist has replaced “adult services” with “censored” and deactivated the link. Will all these ads just migrate to another part of the site? Will another CL pop up to host these ads? Or will it be harder to contact call girls?

Back of certain magazines and newspapers.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir Yeah, but then you have to go outside and get one of those newspapers. Craigslist made it so easy.

Go down to the red-light district and hook up with a live one.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@papayalily Nope, order the subscription online.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir Our local paper doesn’t have that option, and those ads are only in the print copy, not online.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@papayalily Hmm, you can always ask a friend to bring you the paper.

Do it the old fashioned way that is still being used: Offer the woman tangible goods like clothes, money, and a house.

iamthemob's avatar

Damn. I get them bending under the pressure. But damn.

One more point for the criminal prosecution of normal human sexuality.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Blackberry Seriously? You’re calling all women hookers? That’s classy. I don’t call all men abusive fucks.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@papayalily well, granted, you call them hookers and not sex workers, like you should, imo.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir I was trying to be humorous in my title. I failed, apparently. If I was being serious, I would have gone with sex workers or prostitutes, although my favorite is always “call girl” because I feel it adds a level of class in a Breakfast At Tiffany’s kinda way.

Simone_De_Beauvoir's avatar

@papayalily Oh, yeah that didn’t come through.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@Simone_De_Beauvoir Yeah, after I typed it I thought about editing it with a smiley face or something but I try to stay away from emoticons.

Blackberry's avatar

@papayalily I apologize, I forgot my /Sarcasm command lol. Of course I do not think all women are hookers.

iamthemob's avatar

@papayalily

I think the unfortunate assumptions that you all were just making is not that all women are hookers. That’s not mandated by Blackberry’s statement.

What is assumed is the statement that:

(1) papayalily and the others looking by implication are looking for women hookers, and

(2) all hookers are women.

Oh, I’m sure all those ads will be even more coded – but over on the Casual Encounters section.

Or, people could do it this way (@ 0:40).

I’d like a bit of “pram”, please. PHWOAARR!

There’s always backpage and eros guide

I liked to read the Rants on CR. Too funny. I didn’t know they had hookers advertising on there too.

A Woody Allen line leaps to mind…“Don’t knock masturbation. It’s sex with someone I love.”

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

I never really thought of it as problematic, it isn’t very difficult to find a prostitute around here if you drive around a few blocks downtown. Then again, I don’t usually make it a point to seek them out.

jazmina88's avatar

Dont they have a casual encounter section…..that is free hookering.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@jazmina88 Well, the money is a big part of sex work, otherwise it’s just sex. Prostitutes have to pay bills just like everyone else. Plus, while I fully support a sex workers right to turn down any client she or he wants to, I would guess that many limit it to those they don’t feel safe with, not those they don’t want to have sex with. People in casual encounters can be more picky than those looking for a soulmate.

You can find the same kind of ads if you have a local alternative newspaper. Here in DC it’s the City Paper. The ads are available in the back of the paper under “adult classifieds” or on their website.

downtide's avatar

Don’t they write their phone numbers all over the inside of mens bathrooms? They do here. And in phone boxes. “Call Suzy for a good time”.

MissA's avatar

Aren’t y’all afraid of getting ‘more’ than you pay for, from someone whose livelihood is made by keeping their legs apart?

iamthemob's avatar

Again…everyone assuming that all the hookers are women…lordy lord.

buster's avatar

Go to a big city and drive around the hood and ask women on the sidewalk if they are working. Good streets to hit are SE 82nd Ave. in Portland Oregon, Trinity Lane or Dickerson Pike in Nashville Tennessee, and East Main Street or 2nd Ave. in Chattanooga Tennessee if you all you want is a $20 crackwhore. The Willamette Week newspaper in Portland Oregon also has about 2–3 pages of escorts services, numbers, prices and pictures of the ho’s in the back of it. Oh yeah not all the escorts listed in the Willamette Weekly are necessarily women but they try.

MissA's avatar

Obviously, I have no idea what I’m talking about. Hope I haven’t insulted or made otherwise inappropriate comments.

MyNewtBoobs's avatar

@MissA Lol you’re good.

iamthemob's avatar

@buster

Again…why do all the hookers have to be women…:-)
