What's the moral of Chicken Little?

Asked by MyNewtBoobs (19069points) September 5th, 2010

I thought the moral was to not overreact and to search for all possible answers before freaking out, but as I was rereading it, it seemed to be more beware of foxes. So what is the moral of the story?

Don’t bother counting your chickens after the barn door is put before the cart?

Don’t assume the end of the world is coming.

Don’t believe rumors without investigating them. Don’t make generalizations based on the first bit of evidence you find. Don’t get caught up in hysteria. The moral is to have the courage to do your own thinking instead of just following the herd because the herd must be right.

Don’t freak out unless you know for certain what’s going on.

Freaking out about small dangers can lead you to miss the signs of much greater dangers.

Don’t talk to strangers. They probably want to lure you home and eat you.

If you are a small woodland creature, it’s probably not a good idea to listen to a fox.

@MissAnthrope But should we really listen to foxes, even if we’re bigger? I mean, since fairy tales have never lead me astray, I KNOW that foxes are evil and sly and manipulating.

Thanks,@lynneblundell! :)

@papayalily – Well.. well.. what about The Fox and the Hound? Not all foxes are bad.

@MissAnthrope Have you read the book? Man, no one comes off good in that thing.
