Common sense and my beliefs.
I’m the same way with any info I hear, be it from some form of media or another persons mouth.
That’s a very good question! I take it all with a grain of salt I guess. I think some of the University websites are more believable when it comes to medical information etc. Other than that, I guess I use my own judgement.
I think I’ve got a good example: Weather Wars .info.
At first glance, there’s some very interesting claims made… and the site design looks relatively polished and professional [Caveat: looks like the site has fallen into disrepair of late.]
Author has seemingly legit credentials (former meteorologist for NBC affililate in Iowa or somewheres). Makes reference to technology and science, etc.
But it doesn’t take a lot of clicking around, before it’s obvious (at least, to me) that things don’t smell right.
Now, I’m trying to think of a poorly designed site that is an unassailable reference in terms of legitimacy. Hmmm. Can’t think of one.
Can you?
What a kook! One thing I can say for him is that he sure has his head in the clouds!
Of course not. Anyone can create a website. I could go create one and declare that the Internet doesn’t exist.
Yeah, even Wikipedia listed Sinbad the comedian as dead.
I trust very little of what I find on the internet. Certainly a well designed site is important, but any one with money can construct one. I am specifically cautious of any site that looks cheap or the code looks generic. I usually check multiple resources on any one topic.
@stratman37 the original sinbad is dead.
he was just better known as a swashbuckler
