Why does the Sims3 not work on my Mac?

Asked by troubleinharlem (7999points) September 7th, 2010

I got the right version, my serial code is fine, but when I try to actually play it, it is stuck at the first screen with the diamond and the number three over it. It also won’t quit the application, and the only way to quit it is to shut down the computer completely, which is kind of annoying to do.

Does anyone know what’s up?

@rpmpseudonym : How do I find all of that out? I’m not sure about all of those things…

On your Mac, click on the Apple logo in the top left of the screen. Then click, ‘About This Mac.’ Then click ‘More Info.’ That will give you a list of everything inside your computer. Cross-reference that list with the above game requirements.

@rpmpseudonym : Okay, I’m fine except for the ATI – I don’t know where to find that. xD But thanks for letting me know about the information! I definitely didn’t know that.

In that list from clicking on ‘More Info’, on the left is a sidebar, click on ‘Graphics/Displays’ & you will get all the information about your video card.

@rpmpseudonym : Haha, thanks. I’m still a mac newbie.

No problem. If your computer meets/exceeds the requirements of the game & the problem still persists,I would contact Electronic Arts about it. Here is their support contact info.
