Bands that suck so bad they are good. Recommendations.
I’m tired of polished pretentious crap that tries too hard to be clever. I like music that makes me say “WTF is this?”. To give a few examples… Crystal Castles, old Skinny Puppy, Deerhoof, Lonely of a Woman by Die Mannequin, some Dir En Grey, Mr. Bungle, X-Ray Spex, Genghis Tron when I can handle it… and Suicidal Tendencies is pretty nice.

Blood Red Shoes, Random Hand.
If you’re liking those try be your own pet.
Also Black Lips might wet your appetite.
Born Ruffians and SHITDISCO. I realise I probably should have thought a little harder instead of returning to this question time again.
@lsdh182 If your answer is still within 10 minutes you can edit it.
Electric Six! Kings of that genre. Eagles of Death Metal could fit in there as well.
Also, Animal Collective. ~
Hey! X-Ray Spex is a good band :)
“Oh bondage, up yours!”
@FutureMemory I know. Read the title. Lol. I guess when I say “bad”, I mean apathetic and abrasive, which Spex certainly are or seem to be.
@lonelydragon The Darkness were great. I saw them live once and it was one hell of a show. Utterly camp, but brilliant.
The Shaggs. Best worst band of all-time. Period!
I love Beat Happening but a lot of people consider them to not play very well and the lead singer sounds painfully lazy. But I love them.
Wesley Willis . Rock Over London, Rock on Chicago. He’s mentally disabled and schizophrenic. He basically just plays a Casio keyboard’s rhythms and says whatever he thinks —sometimes he gets on key.. sometimes.
Oh yeah, for pure WTF factor—Here’s The Residents—Third Reich and Roll I play this now and then to freak my husband out. He HATES them, but they have a special place in my heart.
Mortician all the way. They always do this. Half their song is some horror movie intro, and then they just go mental. These dudes must have like the shittiest recording equipment ever lol. Headbangs
Wesley Willis. I didn’t like him. The hipsterati looved him.
Although there was a fine line during his lifetime as to whether the hipsters actually liked his music, or were just amusing themselves by humouring him.
@forestGeek Holy crap[! No kidding! This is awful. I love it.
@aprilsimnel I am as unhip as they come. I like Wesley Willis in small doses (very small) His lyrics crack me up and it reminds me of when I was a kid and played with my Casio keyboard rhythms for hours with terrible songs. Big differences—I didn’t swear and I stopped doing it when I was about 12.
@keobooks I was going to link to that same “Black Candy” video! :D
The Replacements
The album, “Sorry Ma’ Forgot To Take Out The Trash”.
The best song on that album for what you’re looking for is probably “Rattlesnake”.
The song “I Bought A Headache” will give you a headache.
