Can someone please give me a tutorial about how could I play a game with an emulator?
OK guys,I’m new to this emulator world and I just recently download an emulator called VisualBoyAdvance-1.8.0-beta.3.zip and download a few ROM for that emulator. I download GBA games but I can’t play it on my PC,it’s been downloading for more than 30 minutes! I don’t what’s wrong with this thing. I use windows XP.
PS: I know most emulators are illegal, but please…I really want to play a game (especially pokemon ruby) on my pc. I’ve sold my GBA for extra money to buy NDS and I miss those old games on GBA.

I don’t think emulators are illegal, I think its the act of downloading games to play on them that is. I think emulators in and of them selves are ok. but dont quote me on it
I am not familiar with this particular emulator, but usually you need to locate the file and then mount it to the emulator, then run the file.
there is a tutorial here that says you need to:
“Click on the File menu then Open, or press Ctrl+O. If you placed Visual Boy Advance in the same folder as your games then you will see them there. Double-click on a game to play it.”
@poisonedantidote Thank you. I’ve done that but it keeps loading for quite a long time. I can’t play the game.
@Doctor_D In that case i would recommend reinstalling the emulator, just in case there is something wrong with it.
I haven’t run my Visual Boy Advance in ages, but mine loads games just fine. Is it the ROM itself that won’t complete its download? I would cancel the download session and try installing it again. If it still won’t finish its download the second time, you might need to find a different upload of the ROM. Sometimes websites have faulty ROMS up that just don’t work (it’s much more difficult to find a good ROM than a good Emulator.)
If you’re still having trouble, PM me the link to the ROM you’re trying to download. I’ll see whether I can get it to run on my computer to test whether it’s the ROM itself or something else.
@poisonedantidote 1) if you’re not an expert, i suggest you use the stable version instead of the beta, as a general rule.
2) If the rom is still downloading that has nothing to do with the emulator, it’s either a problem with your internet connection or with the site itself.
3) if you have an NDS you can play GBA games on it. Unless it’s a DSi.
