Whats your best "OMG I cant believe that happened!" story?

Asked by wgallios (1768points) September 9th, 2010

I want to hear your best, “OMG” story, like a good one though, not any bad/depressing stories. For example hitting the jackpot in Vegas, or a crazy night where you met someone.

One of those stories you’ll remember forever!

The dirtier the better hah

When my friend told me I was unconventionally beautiful. I nearly had a heart attack from happiness. Heh. Unconventional Beauty. :P

Once an escaped prematurely released mental patent wandered into my home and told my housemate he came from “a family of opulence” and that this was in fact his house. I slept through it until the police woke me up. Police are noisy.

Finding out the guy I had been crushing on for 6 years was gay and he was now my boyfriend. It all happened in one freakin’ night! Now, I’ll admit that I had been suspecting him of being gay for a few years before that point, but still, I had to pinch myself several times that day…this thing that I had only fantasized about was now reality. Pretty insane.

That whole day, July 18, 2009, was just beyond amazing…

I sneaked onto a service elevator to the Bank Of America building in downtown SF, and went to the roof, were I got to meet movie director Lina Wertmuller. She invited me to watch her film at the Chronicle that afternoon. While there, I got to meet Giancarlo Giannini. While watching them film a street scene, Lina told me to walk down the street as an extra. I did it, and was blown away. They cut that scene from the movie, but I was very jazzed.

This is probably going to sound stupid, but I thought it was amazing.

A friend and I were staring at a buildings at our university. One of the windows had the letters “ZAZ” stuck against the pane and we were puzzling about what it meant. Every now and then, people stopped, looked up at the building, and then went on their way. After a while, an older gentleman with a camera stopped and stood next to us. He asked which window we were looking at and we showed him.

“That one is mine.”

Zaz is short for his last name. It was a crazy random happenstance.

While living in Phoenix, I arrived home after work one Mother’s Day to discover President Reagan had flown in to visit his wife’s mother, who lived in the same condo as I. This was less than a year after his attempted assassination, and you would have thought no one would be allowed to approach him. But I did, the secret service guys let me walk up to him, and shook his hand. We chatted briefly and then off he marched to a waiting limo. Meeting the then-leader of the Free World was quite an experience.

I also got to to dance with Elena Holly, Buddy’s wife, in a Dallas C&W joint where she hung out after he was killed.

Are those worthy of OMG?

Ramming a hotel luggage cart into actor Ned Beatty.

He was staying at the hotel along with Meg Ryan and Alec Baldwin while filming Prelude to a Kiss in Chicago. After doing an inspection of the hotel parking lot, I headed back to the main entrance with a deserted cart. There was a limo out front, and while pushing the cart back inside while trying to get a peek in the limo, there was resistance. I thought it was just the door, but it turned out to be Mr. Beatty’s chest.

I met Don Knotts waiting to get picked up from LAX once. Nice guy, he started chatting with me, I guess he didn’t get recognized all that much at that point and I didn’t say anything to let him know I that I knew anything beyond that he was a friendly old man. The really weird part is my roommate bumped into him within the same year (I can’t remember where). Neither of us realized we’d both met him until we heard he died about a year later.
