tough question…
grew up with a chocolate lab and so i’m kinda partial, she was a great dog.
lately, i think chow chows are sooo cool looking, but i hear their temperament isn’t the best.
but i love animals, so a favorite is kinda hard to pick!
Rescued. I have not had a dog that wasn’t a rescue in the last 20 years. Other than that it doesn’t matter. I prefer dogs that can handle cold easily.
Can I have two?
Long legged Jack Russell
Springer Spaniel
Pugs! I find them super cute.
German Shepherd Dog.They are smart and beautiful.
I’ve always wanted a pug. I think they’re so adorable. But, my chiwiener Jack is super cute too. That’s his best friend in the picture.
Having had a number of different breeds over the years and having a particular use (search and rescue) for my dogs, I have a preference for German Shepherd Dogs and I just love my labradoodle, Bender. Bender (depicted at left) is so smart and so biddable I can’t imagine going on a search without him.
He has this peculiar habit (that he developed of his own volition) of only returning the particular tennis ball that I have thrown. It doesn’t matter if I throw the ball into a lake or into a passel of balls at the dog park, he will only return with the ball that I threw. One day, knowing I had a Penn 4 tennis ball at the dog park, I threw the ball. He painstakingly gridded the 30 or more balls on the ground to find the one that I threw. A nearby man asked me what he was doing. Knowing his habit, I said “We are working on math. Today he is trying to cipher the square root of 16.” The look on the man’s face when Bender returned with the ball with a big number 4 on it was worth a million bucks!
Bichon frise. Second, Shitzu. How is that spelled?
My favorite breed and the best dog I’ve ever had has been an Alaskan Malamute.
@Mom2BDec2010 I love that breed, too. So fluffy!
@Aster :) It’s spelled Shih Tzu. I had one, she passed away earlier this year. They’re such great dogs. Very loving.
@chels I’m in love after seeing that one.
Saint Bernard…especially if his keg is full!
@py_sue They’re really protective of their owners and good watch dogs. :) People will try to steal them though.
Great Danes. Labradors are a close second.
It is a really tough question, but I think after having a variety of breeds that I love bird dogs best of all. If I had to pick one, it would be German Shorthair Pointer.
@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities But Great Danes break our hearts even sooner with their shorter lifespans—although I love their personalities.
I like any dog > = the size of a beagle. Otherwise, I’m not sure it’s still a dog. Just my own personal prejudice. I’ve met very few dogs that I didn’t like, so I can’t really choose!
Malamutes and Huskies are my favorite, but I’ll take any dog that needs a home. :D
Most of you know I lost my little one this summer…:( So, my favorite (still is) a Yorkie. With a Scotty up there, too. I just love the terriers——they are feisty and clever.
Ahh good hard question (no sexual pun intended) But uh…I don’t really know…I like all breeds.
But my favorites are these:
1:Sarloose Wolf hound.
2:Siberian Husky
3Akita
4:Shiba Inu
5German Shepard
I know there are more I like but I can’t think of any more besides those five. Oh! and the hybrids or wolves XP those are my favvvorrriteee!
Milo here; A Newfoundland…I can easily saddle him up and ride to the Mouse Preserve.
Hmm, I love dogs. I think my favorites have been mutts. I tend to like larger dogs and terriers. But for the sake of the question ..what breed:
Labradoodle
Otterhound
Airedale Terrior
Weimaraner
Catahoula Leopard
..ok there’s too many ;)
Really hard question.
My favorite dog is a female standard poodle. She was so very smart and a very Good dog. I have had rescue mutts sice Chienne now because I do not want to have to shave the hair every month. She was a great family member for 15 active years.
German Shepards and King Charles Cavalier Spaniels, followed by Spring Spaniels.
I’m a huge fan of the Bull Terrier family as well as German Shepherds, Wireheaired Pointers, Rottweilers, Field Spaniels, Flatcoated Retrievers (having been raised with these dogs I am probably a little bias!) and Jack Russell Terriers.
