Based on your topics I’m guessing you mean what’s the guy called in a relationship with a cougar…I would have assumed the correct term is “cub”…

chyna's avatar

Oh, completely misread the question. I thought if an old guy was in place of a cougar. Apparently you meant the younger guy in the relationship. In that case, he would be called “lucky”. I like younger guys.

@chyna yeah you are correct.

When an old man is bankrolling a young girl, I have always called him her Sugar Daddy. But when a young guy is dating a cougar, I think @timtrueman has it, cub sounds appropriate.

He’s the cougar lady’s best buddy. He’s the one who comes through for dinner dates, going to the movies, cruising art galleries and museums, escort for friends’ parties and… shopping. He’s the one who’s going to spend the time to tell the lady how fabulous she keeps her grooming, how nice her perfume, nails, hair, the way she walks, laughs, etc. He’s the one who spends the $15. to buy her flowers and take her for walks under starlight or full moons.

All the other guys are the ones who come home from work in a crapped out mood and want to go off and be alone to veg out on video games for hours on end, take for granted meals, clean laundry, nicely kept homes someone to make sure they don’t run out of grooming supplies or shoe polish. All the other guys are the ones who don’t bother to treat their ladies to a desert and coffee in a cafe or surprise her with wrapped gifts just for the hell of it. All the other guys are the one’s who spend more time looking at porn than having live sex with a real partner or pay more to sit in strip bars getting the dicks sucked than asking their ladies to put on something fabulous and taking an extra 15 minutes to make her really hot.

I’m going to go with @cockswain – that’s just a guy.

I have never called a lady a cougar in my life, nor have I ever heard of such a thing until a recent TV show started doing so.

Old guys are gentlemen. Old ladies are babes.

If you mean an older man dating a younger woman, Rich!
If you mean a they younger guy who is dating a Couger, cub is correct.

It is my belief that the main reason a label was invented for ladies who might be described as cougars is because the behaviour they embrace is something that is not shared by other women. For guys though, dating younger women is something that isn’t considered a social taboo by most men. So, like most of the others, I’ll answer the same thing: just a guy.

@sandalman, read the rest of the thread dude, it’s all turned. Older men and younger women are creepy, while older women and yonger men are to be admired. Personally I never waisted my time with younger women, maturity was not acceptable, I always liked the cougars more, but now I’m at the age where I don’t think I would qualify as a cub, unless I dated women that were , never mind not going there. I always thought women in their 40s were some the the sexiest.

Oh, I thought the OP was asking what the young guy is called. Don’t know why anyone thinks the double standard for turnabout couples is so odd. It’s only been since the 20th century where medical care has been accessible enough where so many women don’t die in childbirth so that men had several wives during their lifetimes, most of them young because families wanted their young daughters to marry as well off as possible and older men usually had a few things going over the younger ones. Also, most people thought continuous children showed health, prosperity (and an excuse to have lots of sex) to the man.

Now that women live longer, choose more and more when to have children, how many children to bear, to even marry at all then it’s no surprise the past-prime-childbearing-years women stand out in the crowd if they haven’t succumbed to divorce, shut themselves away and retired to a life of gardening, crafting and tending cats.

Never before have so many still perfectly well functioning women decided to not be cowed by social ideas of being “over the hill” and they’re deciding to live their ungeriatric years as passionately as possible, sometimes that’s attractive to younger partners whereas it’s a threat to same age or older ones who are intimated they can’t keep up or haven’t kept themselves up.
