I don’t know any Tongan, but as I dont think you will get an answer on this I thought I would try and find out what I could. The dictionaries online are very limited, but here is what I have:
First I have a quote “Māori* is the foundation language of New Zealand, the ancestral language of the tangata whenua.” so it looks like “tangata” are an ancestral people. however, this word shows up in lots of different places, leading me to suspect it has more than one meaning. (as seems the case with tongan)
the other information I have is the following:
pehê – “thus” or “thusly” or “that way” or “think” or “say”.
fau – “very” or “exceedingly” / there is also also “fa’u” meaning – “make” or “create” or “build”
Other than that I could not find out anything else, sorry. I think you need a native to help you with this, by the looks of it the language is extremely complex, with any given word having multiple meanings, some times not even related to the other meanings.
