What is the 'missing' link between Islam and Christianity?

There is no missing link of which I am aware. Islam traces its roots back to Father Abraham, as does Judaism ( from which Christianity sprang ), but that is the only common denominator of which I am aware.

I am not an expert on religion but this may be more true if you were comparing Judaism and Christianity rather than Islam and Christianity. Islam (I think) is only around 1400 years old. I think Islam is a completely different ballgame.

As far as I know from sources such as www.zeitgeistmovie.com most religions are ripoffs of one another. The number 12 for example is everywhere, the dates coincide, it seems like recent religions are clones of earlier religions, from Persia, Egypt, and so on. As for the missing link, well, I think the missing link is unconditional love and acceptance. They cut the link once they call the other one an infidel…

I’m also not clear on what you mean by the missing link – Mohammad is (according to some readings) the last in a line of prophets of which Adam was the first, and Jesus is recognized. Muslims are connected with the Ishmaelites, descendants of Abraham’s children with his wife’s handmaiden.

I am not a Bible scholar, but this seems to be the rundown.
God promised Abraham (then named Abram) and Sarah (then Sarai) that they would parent a nation. When Abram figured Sarai was unable to concieve, he knocked up her handmaiden, Hagar. The child was Ishmael.
Later, (and in her 90’s) Sarah gives birth to Isaac. She then kicked Hagar and Ishmael to the curb.
Ishmael begat the Arab nation, and Isaac the Jews.

@Jabe73 you’re right in your estimation, current evidence supports that Islam started in 610 AD when Mohammad first began recieving his revelations from God.

But I guess you could say a significant rift started up because Islam has Jesus being an apostle and not the son of God.

As far as I can discern the “missing link” is simply an imaginary notion derived from the fact that the religions happen to place emphases on different aspects of the same story. With this stated, I am no Theologian.

@Winters From what little I know muslims see Jesus as only a prophet (just a regular man though) but not the son of god or god himself. Judaism sees Jesus as just a man who tried to form his own religion, (they don’t even consider him a prophet). All orthodox Christian denominations accept the trinity and Jesus as lord himself. There are several nontrinitarian denominations that call themselves “Christians” (such as CLS and JW) but mainstream Christians do not consider these nontrinitarian denominations as true Christianity. Let us not forget about the “new age Christian” views of Jesus as a “master”.

To me from what little I know there seems to be a much closer link between Judaism and Christianity, (Christianity formed from Judaism, not Islam). Judeo Christian, not Islamic Christian.

There are a few links and they are not missing but clearly defined; Abraham, Sarah and Hagar. And Isaac and Ishmael. Blame it all on Abraham who simply couldn’t be happy without a son though he was really old and so was his wife. He slept with her servant girl, allowed the servant girl to make Sarah feel bad about herself after said servant girl conceived and bore a son, then got his elderly wife pregnant and allowed her to throw servant girl and son into the desert to die.
Or blame it on the servant girl who couldn’t leave well enough alone and had to try to make Sarah feel bad about being barren. Blame Sarah who gave her servant girl to her husband to fornicate with without a thought to the servant girl’s feelings.
The link is right there, as well as the basis for the rift and animosity.

Or for having them, except the servant girl shouldn’t get the wife torked off, since she was given to the husband by the wife.

@Your_Majesty We know that Islam and Christianity somewhat have something in common,or at least,basically,serve the same God but they just do it in different way. Now there’s a question about the separation of both of this religion,Christianity could have diverged from Islam and vice versa but of course,there is this missing link,probably a minor religion that connect the relation between these two major religions. My guess that is Jew but I could be wrong. What do you think?

I think all of your assumptions are wrong and so no answer, short of establishing new assumptions, would make any sense.

The only missing link is that we don’t look into our scriptures ourselves.

Allah (God Almighty) says in the Holy Quran :

People tent to think Islam has a VALID Historical Connection with the God of Abraham. But Islam is missing Many commonalities with the – JUDIAC – God of Abraham in the Torah.

For eXample ISLAM – before the 7th CENTURY has no, preserved record. No BIBLES, NO PRESERVED BOOKS / Manuscripts No Record. OR Proof of eXistance. . Its Claims are PROVEN to be incorrect, invented by a single generation and a single Character. Mohammud.

Concerning Islamic – 7 th Century Manuscripts, They GO On and on, Describing a Deity A Location and Some Characters, that are Mentioned in the Torah and Gospels. AND it also Demands that the Torah and Gospels are in agreement with its Quranic Message.

But They are not in Agreement..

And REMEMBER, Again, before the 7th CENTURY, ISLAM – has absolutely NO HISTORY OF ISLAM, no CHRONICLES NO ARTIFACTS no Genealogies. . it is Clear that – They USE the Ancient Torah manuscripts to Gather INFO and to MENTION God, Abraham, Ishmael and Israel AND The Middle Eastern Area. BUT The Historical Manuscripts and World history does not support their Claims.

Because Islam has no historical manuscripts NOR world History. THEREFORE – to Continue on, Promoting the IDEA that they have many things IN COMMON, simply is completely untruth and a False *( basically an IGNORING TYPE ) Conduct.

The Facts Demonstrate – That Islam truly has nothing HISTORICALY in common with Judaism. Because… The God of Abraham Does not Promote or Condone Divorce. But the god of Islam is a huge Promoter of Divorce. A Muslim Woman can Spend her Lifetime in a continual Lifestyle of continual Remarriage. Divorcing and Remarriage, is OK to the god of islam. But is Wrong and bad to Abraham and his God.

The Quran Allows Muslims to Eat certain unclean animals, while ONLY banning – Chosen Favorite Animals, that Arabs loved, needed and were already Eating in the 7 th Century. Also the IDEAS of the Quran are centered around the Rituals, Ceremonies, Rites and Traditions of Mohammud’s – Arabic Family Pagan Deities. Rituals, Places and ideas athat are Nowhere in The Torah or Gospels.

If You will NOTICE, The Torah and the Gospels are not Conflicting or in disagreement. The God of the Torah is Visiting man on Earth, in FULL and COMPLETE Human Form. The Spirit of God -Morphing Himself, into a Complete Human Being. They agree In Historical Context, —- agree about the Deity and Capabilities of God and Agree about Geographical Facts and Agree about the eXpectations and Laws of God. The New Testament does not Declare a Contradicting History , Nor the Torah. It Verifies the genealogy of the jEWS and Deals out a message of Prediction and Prophecy to jEWS who will soon be Scattered around the Earth.

350 – 400 years after the last Book of the Torah, Jesus Christ Comes to Give that Message and Confirms the Torah.

But the Quran does not Confirm or Validate anything from any WORLD History nor Ancient Scripts. Anywhere at any time.

Would You not think it best to realize that Islam is a RELIGION – that has absolutely nothing to do with Abraham. Because the Abraham of ISLAM .- He Never eXisted in The Bible – Nor his God or Faith.

Don’t You think that ALSO – The Fact – that Horrible Female genital mutilation *( FEMALE CIRCUNCISION ) has been Going on for many years throughout the Islamic World. Thousands and Thousands of Little Girls are mutilated and disfigured and Tortured because they want to MIMICK and COPY and *( out-right Basically twist ) – the Ideas of The Torah. But The Rest of the Muslim World Says absolutely Nothing about it. They Don’t Care and think that it is a Personal Choice and based on Abrahamic Customs that they have Twisted and Perverted.

The Muslims around the planet, SAY NOTHING, DO NOTHING and Just leave it Open for anyone to Mutilate and Torture Little Girls in Circumcision, that has never been in the Torah. Abraham NOR his God – would never go for this Useless Procedure that does not preserve health or make women healthier.
