A mundane enquiry concerning mp3 player carnage: can anybody offer their superior wisdom?

Tidings.
One has just attempted to instigate the initial charging processes of an uncooperative and insolent mp3 player…
He is claiming he is fully charged, but most definitely is not.
This was the final perdition of my last device (named Hades), therefore I’m concerned I may have the wrong software (‘tis all Mac things), or if this is not likely the issue, does anybody have any suggestions as to the wisest course of action to employ?

Go on a quest to your nearest Apple office. They shalt help ye there with your malfunctioning device (if you have warranty, that is).
