Help with death?

Asked by Captin_obvious3 (11points) September 13th, 2010

Ok, its not that I am scared of death… its I guess I’m scared of what happens… when I think about it after I die, go to heaven…. then what will we have free will? It scares me into not wanting to die.. the odd thing is that when I imagine dying and being born again, it calms me. Somebody please help!!!!!

There is nothing to fear from death, because a dead person does not know they are dead. A dead person no longer exists, so nothing good or bad can happen to them.

Different people tell themselves different stories about death. Your story is very Christian—Heaven and rebirth. My story is… well I don’t know what to call it. It’s my story. I think that death is the end of everything. You don’t even have any kind of consciousness to know that you have no consciousness.

If my story is right, I won’t know I’m dead, so nothing will matter to me. In your story, you have to worry about free will and whether you will get into heaven or hell, and whatever.

I think we are all scared of death, and rightly so. Death is the end. We can only experience things as long as we are alive. So we all try our hardest to put off the day of death as long as possible. But sooner or later, if appears more imminent, and if we are this scared of it, we will be dysfunctional. Thus, we need comfort.

I think about death a lot. I keep on telling myself the story that, no matter how I die, if the end is painful, the pain will soon be over. I was thinking of what it might have been like on the upper floors of the World Trade Towers, with the fires coming closer and closer. I was thinking of the pain of dying in fire.

I think that the pain might end soon. Death would be quick. That’s what I want. Death to come quickly and silently, while I’m asleep. I do not want to be tortured to death. I do not want the pain to last for a very long time. So I tell myself that, no matter how painful it is, my body has mechanisms that block out the pain receptors when they are overloaded, and I will have a bliss of my own making for the last few seconds.

We do what we do to calm ourselves. I don’t begrudge you your story. I’m not going to tell you your story is wrong. None of us really know, I wish you well with your story. It is scary to think about death. To imagine it. To wonder about it. There’s really nothing we can do about it, except to try to put it away somewhere where it doesn’t keep us from living.

You will be born again….just be prepared to be a bit surprised…and I don’t mean that flippantly!!!

I think we will have consciousness after death, and that death is but a doorway we pass through from this existence to what’s next. You see we are living in eternity. This life we have just goes on and on forever…in different forms and different dimensional awarenesses. This earth existence is a lovely place to learn about relationships. Apparently this is our biggest lesson here. To learn to play well together!
And then you take what you learn from here added to what you’ve already learned and experienced prior to coming here and apply that to your next life experience.

It is all good fun, and you will enjoy it. Remember, you chose to come here.

If Ego Death, Near-Death, and Death are all somewhat similar to a point, then we can learn about what what after-death feels like with large doses of psychedelics. Not saying you should…. in fact, only people with shamanic-leaning personalities should really do that… but they can do it, and come back and tell us what they went through, for the benefit of all.

And if what occurs during such an experience does really mimic death (and of course there’s no way to know for sure), then we know this:

You will have total free will in almost all conceivable dimensions. Negatively, you may feel chaotic and confused, and ready (and afraid) to split apart into billions of pieces, which you may fear will not want to reassemble. That fear will be extremely short lived, as fear is probably a product of ego.

You then literally will explode into a billion pieces, but then you’ll notice you’re still there. You’ll notice, that whatever you do, you’re still there. There is no escape from the consciousness, except for the conscious decision to go void. That option will always be there, and it’s not permanent, so use it as a resting option, anytime, after your body is gone.

You will then notice that you are both the symphony of life, as well as just a piece of that symphony, paradoxically at the same time.

The heaviness of 3-D reality will drain from your spirit. There will be no more tension. No more muscle pain, no more mental pain, no more pain. No need to go pee. No dry mouth. No bodily worries, whatsoever.

You will have the choice of dancing in the cosmos of spirit, joining the sound and movements your spirit makes, with the sound and movements of what used to be others.

Or you may come back. Earth dimensional reality is the hardest and slowest part of eternal life, but you are welcome back to it anytime, and all the drama that comes with it.

Like an electrical switch. As soon as the main switch(the brain) goes down, the whole power plant(body) goes down. Nothing but nothingness follows. Complete and utter nothingness. Body becomes nutrients of the soil if buried. Zero follows. I am trying very hard to understand that annihilation that follows death, but I am making it clear for myself. No hell, no heaven, you just go back to the nothingness you came from.

When my kids were young, they were afraid to go on an amusement park ride. I told them to just watch for a minute and observe that thousands of other kids did it just today. Every one of them made it successfully. You will too. Enjoy the ride.

Well, everyone born on earth, dies. Every one of your ancestors has died successfully. You will too. Enjoy the ride.

Stop dwelling on death, and live LIFE to the fullest!

Death is out of my control and your’s. Just enjoy everyday to it’s fullest….. and “let the chips fall where they fall !” No need of even thinking about . Eat healthy, get regular exercise, and visit your doctor regularly. Those things you have control of…

Oh, laugh a lot… be happy and don’t worry!

@Ben_Dover Yes I agree.

@Captin_obvious3 Probally not the best place to ask this type of question unless oblivion sounds good to you. To each their own.

@BoBo1946 I think being born again is akin to a gumball machine….you just won’t know what color you will get and you either get what you hoped for or you chew on what you got! That makes no sense whatsoever! lol!

Make sense to me…..and always will my friend! I’ll take whatever the Good Lord allows me to have after this is over. I’ll take tent up there. And, my street does not have to be paved with gold….I’ll take a dirt road!

@Ben_Dover Nicely said sir! I feel similar… I also believe that a part of my conscienceness lives on in the people’s who’s life I have touched, in the things I have taught them and the love that I have shared with them. I believe we are all connected. We are One.

Are you sick or something? I don’t dwell on death. It is not healthy. If you do and your not ill. I would go seek professional help.

I believe that when you die you are “sleeping” in a way. You can’t hear, dream, think, etcetera. You’re just dead. After Armageddon , where all governments are destroyed along with wicked people, there will be a 1,000 year period where God resurrects everyone who has died since Adam and Eve, who have good in their hearts. Everything will be perfect and we will all live in paradise. All the animals will be at peace with each other as well as humans. There will be no death, pain, tears, or sorrow. Everyone will be in perfect health. Isaiah 35:5 and 6 says “At that time the eyes of the blind will be opened, And the ears of the deaf will be unstopped. At that time the lame will leap like the deer, And the tongue of the speechless will shout for joy.” Satan and his demons will be cast into an abyss for 1,000 years. After the 1,000 years are up Satan will be let out for a short period of time and anyone who turns against God will be destroyed permanently along with Satan and his demons. That is what I believe. I’m not trying to shove my beliefs at you. It is up to you what you chose to believe. If you are interested in learning more you can go to jw.org and even request a free bible study if you want. Once again I’m not trying to shove my beliefs at you. I hope I have helped. :)
