Any ideas for fun things for adults that I can put in christmas crackers?
Yes i’m an adult and i love christmas crackers! It’s always fun to see what you get, even if it’s crap.
So anyway, instead of buying those cheap crackers where you just get crap, this year i want to make crackers for everybody.
I’m using toilet paper rolls (i assume they’re the same size all over the world), and so far all i know what i want to put in there is a chocolate truffle.
So, have any ideas of other interesting thingies i can put in there (that are small enough to fit)?

It would be helpful for those of us who haven’t an idea in the world what you’re talking about to actually see what you mean by a “Christmas cracker”. Is this what we (in most of the US) think of as a “stocking stuffer”?
Really, until I got to the part about a toilet paper roll, all I was thinking about was “fun things in a food product? Really? What’s the fun?”
But you’re looking for “enjoyable small things to put inside a TP roll. Truffles are good. (Put extra in mine, please.)
Gift certificates are fun, for the right places.
Well I had to google it. I have never seen or heard of one. It’s rather cool idea. I would fill it with temporary tattoes, candy canes, mints, mini bottles of booze( adult christmas cracker), and gum, hersheys kisses. What do you put in if to give it a bang?
OOPS! Sorry ya’ll, i thought it was pretty much universal, :) This is a christmas cracker! : link
@Frenchfry you do get little strips of bang paper, i don’t know what you actually call it, but i haven’t found any yet, so i may just leave that out altogether. Actually, those little booze bottle chocolates are a cute idea, i was just thinking of the usual round truffles. :)
What a wonderful idea! And depending on how many people you are planning to make them for and how well you know them, they could even be customized. Other than adults, what else can you tell us about them? Family? Friends?
Here is a link to a site that provides instructions on how to properly make them. They also sell the kits, if you want to see the different items required. Do you think you could find them in SA?
And can you imaging attending the dinner party where these posh crackers are offered??
@Pied_Pfeffer oh, thanx for the link! :D That’ll help me in deciding how to go about making them. :) I don’t know about the kits, i’ve never looked for anything of the sort before, BUT, the fun part for me is actually making them from scratch myself. :D
Well, it’s only for family – parents, siblings and grannies of my and my husband’s family. That’s it! :) There are 3 sets of families, so we’ll most likely be having 3 christmas dinners (it’s customary here to “unwrap” your cracker at the dining table.) So it’ll only be about 18 crackers in total. There’s only one child of about 3.
A little mini bottle of Baileys Irish Creme would be a tasty treat to go with the Truffle.
You will probably need to make several beforehand to see if the weight of what’s in the cracker will affect the functioning.
For women, a ring or charm bracelet. For men, a mini utility knife.
To make them really personal, you could do IOUs for something each guest needs: like babysitting for your sister’s kids or taking care of your brother’s cat.
I’m with @Cruiser – mini-bottles of booze. I’ll take a Jameson’s. ^_^
A small charge of dynamite & some gypsy tears :¬)
Another vote for the mini liquor bottle if they drink (credit goes to @Frenchfry for offering it first). Here is a site for a mini picture frame that is magnetic which might be a good gift.
You could also take an empty toilet paper roll with you shopping. That way, if you find something of interest, you can make sure that it would fit.
In the words of George Carlin: NEATO. That is such a nice idea. I could see the mini bottles of liquor, booze candies, mini photo frames with a nice picture, key chains that mean something to the receiver, etc
@Pied_Pfeffer good ideas, thanx. :)
I would have made beaded handbag charms for the ladies, but i already gave everybody one last year, it would have been perfect for the crackers though.
If any guys are still reading this, what would you like to get? I never really know what to make for guys and just end up giving them something edible.
@Adirondackwannabe i know, i can’t wait to get started! Haha. The little things that amuze me so….. :P
@NaturallyMe You do know you’re required to make some for the new puppy? Treats, bones, etc.
@NaturallyMe Thinking from my husband’s perspective…
Guitar picks. Extra credit if you get one of the brands he likes.
Pocket knives. Nothing in the world more universally useful.
Bottle openers. He’s always losing those things.
Silver dollars. Who doesn’t like money? (then again, I think you’re British, right? in that case a pound coin would be no big deal. Never mind.)
Just for fun, a Matchbox or Hot Wheels car of their favourite classic. My husband’s is the 67 Camaro SS, or something like that.
@Seek_Kolinahr Aha, matchboxes, i have a TON of them that i was going to do something with for my wedding but never did….i can figure out something there. :D (actually i’m South African. :) )
@Adirondackwannabe thanks for reminding me, hehe. Good idea, that ought to keep her busy for a while trying to open it. :)
@NaturallyMe I’m the world’s biggest kid at christmas. Nothing better than spoiling the nieces, nephews, and pets. :)
Small refrigerator magnets with pithy sayings like, “A clean house is a sign of a wasted life.”
This is a little sacriligious (sp?) for christmas, and it goes without saying give it in private but a few sex toys would be kind of neat to receive.
Little Christmas-tree shaped cock-rings and the like?
You guys! These are my parents and grandparents i’m talking about! LOL
Oops :) On second thought, what the heck, old folks might get lucky once in awhile. Bad joke: What looks funny on grandma? Grandpa.
I think some soup to go with those crackers.
