The Other Half and I are considering dropping by either/both of these cities on our way to or from Zion, but we’re not sure where’s the best places to go for sleep/hotel amenities, good food/bars, entertainment, etc. or if there even IS any amusement to be had there….
Any inside knowledge?

Remember Utah is a semi-dry state for alcohol, so if partying is part of the equation…. you have to go through a little extra to get to a bar.
Mesquite has over five or six casinos/resorts. I’ve eaten at Virgin River in Mesquite.
And remember that Lobsters are illegal in Nevada.
You may drink, gamble and enjoy a hooker but… you cannot, possess a LOBSTER! —(Important to know ) ;-)
Utah’s liquor laws change are challenging to deal with. They change from time to time, but I think this is the current situation. http://www.utah.com/visitor/state_facts/liquor_laws.htm
There are many Basque restaurants in Nevada. If you happen to pass on your travels, do stop in for a meal. They serve a lot of food, and it’s a lot of fun too. An online search in the yellow pages does not bring one up in Mesquite, but try asking some locals. They should tell you. Sorry, I don’t know much about it other than that.
Have a nice trip.
