(Potentiall) NSFW - Have we entered the age of commando?

Asked by sleepdoc (4700points) September 24th, 2010

It seems that “going commando” shows up more and more frequently. I have seen it in several TV shows and heard a radio show host talking about it this week. Is it really becoming more common or are we just talking about it more often or is it a combination of the two?

Am I the only old fart who doesn’t know what that means?

sleepdoc's avatar

@janbb Going commando… refers to not wearing underwear.

I have no idea. The only time I went commando in recent times was when I was visiting my friends at Berkeley and I ran out of underwear. They had no idea either. :P

Personally, I find it to be uncomfortable. :\

I haven’t regularly worn underwear for over 20 years.

If its mentioned on TV, chances are its a cheap attempt at shocking an easy to shock audience. bland commercial humor. the censures idea of risky.

Going commando was the “testing of the waters” in preparation to inject the 7 words you cant say in to Television.

@mama_cakes and @TheOnlyNeffie

I am not disputing the fact that some here might view me as pervy. But I always have put NSFW on those questions which might be viewed in that fashion. Occasionally I have asked a follow up question to a response I have read by sending a comment, but if the party one the receiving end has indicated that topic was off limits I have respected that as well.

@sleepdoc Then stop PMing women on Fluther with pervy PMs.

I’m out.

I don’t think so. I don’t go commando unless I have no other option. Like @DominicX, I find it quite uncomfortable. In most shows and movies, there is a reason as to why the character leaves off the underwear.

@mama_cakes… we are all adults here and are capable of making our own decisions. I will take your request about to mean never to send you a comment in the future and will respect your wish.

@mama_cakes I have sent questions but anyone that has said please don’t send me anything more I have left alone!

Jude's avatar

No you haven’t.

sleepdoc's avatar

@mama_cakes… ok if you think that is the case then it must be so. No more comments from me to anyone I guess.

Oh, come on – the hippies were notorious for being in touch with nature. We didn’t make a big deal about it.

sleepdoc's avatar

@YARNLADY .. so it is just gaining notariety now then?

I’ll confess…I’ve gone commando. The term was new to me until I saw this video. All you need to watch is the first few minutes. I’ve never heard someone I know use the term though.

Do men over go commando unless wearing a kilt?

it’s bad for the nuts makes em saggy

I’ve gone commando, I don’t really like wearing underwear, unless I’m wearing a dress or skirt, then I’ll wear one definitely.

Well when I was 13, I pissed my pants…, yeah I know, so embarrassing… I was at my friends, and he felt so bad for me, he let me shower clean and gave me a pair of jeans to wear. I asked him for underwear and he said he didn’t wear any. He was 15… I was like “What?” Anyway I went commando, and I felt so damn great, I haven’t worn underwear EVER since! Well in gym class I do, as I don’t want my junk hanging out, but I don’t wear them in jeans, ever…
