What's the best way to secure reliable transportation around New Delhi for a month?

I’m trying to figure out if long-term car-and-driver rental is my best option in trying to get around a suburb of Delhi for a month, but I’m unsure about vendors, reliability, price, and even that this is the appropriate mode of transport.
