I want to make it for my main squeeze tomorrow night. I am going to get some good vanilla ice cream (you know, with the bits of vanilla bean in it) and place a scoop overtop of the warm apple crisp. :)

This is a cobbler recipe not a crisp. But it is relatively quick and easy.
1 c. sugar
1 c. flour
1 c. milk
1 tsp. baking powder
Pinch of salt
½ stick of butter
3 peeled & sliced apples (or can of apple pie filling)
Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Spray with Pam an 8×8 inch or 9×13 inch glass baking dish. Add butter and place in oven to melt the butter. When melted, remove from oven and tilt the dish so the butter coats the entire bottom. In a bowl mix well sugar, flour, milk, baking powder and salt. Pour into baking dish. Top with apples or apple pie filling and sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon. Bake 40 minutes.
MIx half apple and half blackberry!
Oooh….you have no idea! :-)
For an 8×8inch pan,
Mix together and place in buttered pan:
4 cups of peeled and sliced apples
1 tablespoon of lemon juice
1 tablespoon of flour
½ cup of sugar
For topping mix together:
¾ cup brown sugar
⅓ cup of butter (don’t substitute anything else)
¾ cup flour
½ cup oatmeal
½ teaspoon of salt
1 teaspoon of cinnamon
Sprinkle topping mixture over apples and bake at 350° F for 30 minutes.
Double the recipe for a 13×9 inch pan.
I like it best served warm with that good vanilla ice cream!
I have to look for the recipe, but here are some tips:
I agree that it tastes marvelous with butter.
The oatmeal makes it fantastic in my opinion, too, giving it the “crisp”.
You can even get a low-sodium recipe by omitting the salt and using salt-free butter.
So I vote for the last recipe posted, it’s similar to the one I use.
And thanks for the blueberry suggestion! I just bought some frozen blueberries…. yum
Not to take away from the subject at hand, but….the apple/blackberry idea, I experimented with that combo with pies last year and got rave reviews. Don’t be afraid to experiment.
Apricot/apple
cherry/apple
peach/blackberry
I used fresh apples & B. berries and the teenyist bit of sugar….sublime!
