Often described as novelty songs with nonsense lyrics. There have been so many down the years so which do you remember with a degree of fondness? Indeed which did you dislike with a passion?

Eat It from Weird Al.
you can find the video by clicking here
It hit me at the right age. Most of the time I find humor in music a little annoying but Weird Al does it so well he is hard to not enjoy.

Skullcrusher Mountain by Jonathan Coulton is great, but I personally prefer the cover by Tetrastar.

I can’t think of any funny songs that I don’t like off the top of my head.

I really like “Leopard Skin Pill Box Hat” by Bob Dylan.

Well, I see you got your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat
Yes, I see you got your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat
Well, you must tell me, baby
How your head feels under somethin’ like that
Under your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat

Well, you look so pretty in it
Honey, can I jump on it sometime?
Yes, I just wanna see
If it’s really that expensive kind
You know it balances on your head
Just like a mattress balances
On a bottle of wine
Your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat

Well, if you wanna see the sun rise
Honey, I know where
We’ll go out and see it sometime
We’ll both just sit there and stare
Me with my belt
Wrapped around my head
And you just sittin’ there
In your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat

Well, I asked the doctor if I could see you
It’s bad for your health, he said
Yes, I disobeyed his orders
I came to see you
But I found him there instead
You know, I don’t mind him cheatin’ on me
But I sure wish he’d take that off his head
Your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat

Well, I see you got a new boyfriend
You know, I never seen him before
Well, I saw him
Makin’ love to you
You forgot to close the garage door
You might think he loves you for your money
But I know what he really loves you for
It’s your brand new leopard-skin pill-box hat

Jizz in my Pants is absolutely hilarious. Along with the other Lonely Island songs.

They’re Coming To Take Me Away(to the funny farm). Napoleon XiV, Youtube….listen to it.

Tiptoe Through The Tulips. always hated that song and the artist.

I grew up listening to Weird Al, so his library is definitely on my list (though I am far fonder of his older stuff than his recent releases. Stuff like “Jurassic Park” and “Dare to Be Stupid”. It’s classic parody. For better or worse, I can quote “Albuquerque” from Running with Scissors in its entirety.

I love “Thou Shalt Always Kill” by Dan Le sac vs. Scroobius Pip and, to a much lesser degree, “United States of Whatever” by Liam Lynch.

I’m also unabashedly fond of bubblegum pop—(especially when it performed in boxes).

@john65pennington I love “They’re Coming to Take Me Away” :) haven’t heard that one in a while.

I’m going to kind of break my own rule here. I reckon this song is actually rockin. Those “daleks” however are funny….hilariously bad even.

Muppetfish, lots of versions of that song on Youtube. believe it or not, that was a hit song way back when.

Well, Weird Al. I grew up with him. I listened to a lot of Doctor Demento as a kid, so Fishheads and Pencilneck Geek are high on my list of classics.

@Muppetish – me too. Along with “That’s Your Horoscope for Today”.

I’m hardcore into Weird Al.

I love Dr. Demento.

I also have a warm fuzzy place in my heart for classic funny songs like Please Mr. Custer… I don’t wanna go!, Jolly Green Giant, Guitarzan, Ahab the Arab,

Also, can we say “Blues Brothers”? A Rrrrrrrrubber biscuit?

Yes Dr. Demento.

The Knife – Hanging Out is a great bastard pop ending to a fairly serious album, complete with cheeseball slap bass and drums.

Otherwise, all of Electric Six’s silly songs are way better than their serious ones.

No Children by the Mountain Goats. It has this cute, sarcastic undertone and it’s hilarious.
