I love Geoff Baker. His album, “Patriot Acts” is very political and funny as hell.
You have to consider If you’re out there -John Legend
Amazing song, with a great message. Some lyrics from the song:
No more broken promises
No more call to war
Unless it’s love and peace that we’re really fighting for
We can destroy hunger
We can conquer hate
Put down the arms and raise your voice
We’re joining hands today
Another good song with a political message Colonized Mind -Prince
Your Next Bold Move Ani Di Franco
Watching capitalism gun down democracy, it had this funny affect on me…
I’ve only recently found this artist, but I just love the positive message this song gives. Also kinda interesting because this guy is an orthodox Jewish reggae artist, which is an interesting combination (if only to me at least).
Matisyahu – ‘One Day’
“All my life I’ve been waiting for, I’ve been praying for, for the people to say, that we don’t wanna fight no more, there’ll be no more war, and our children will play, one day….”
“It’s not about win or lose cause we all lose when they feed on the souls of the innocent, blood drenched pavement keep on movin’ though the water stay ragin’ ”
”Overwhelming” by Blackfire. About killing our planet. “We’ve reached the breaking point.”
When the president talks to god – Bright Eyes
Roosevelt room – conor oberst
And…
This land is your land – woody Guthrie. This song has a completely different meaning when you sing the real last verse “In the squares of the city, In the shadow of a steeple;
By the relief office, I’d seen my people.
As they stood there hungry, I stood there asking,
Is this land made for you and me?”
When I get older losing my hair,
Many years from now,
Will you still be sending me a valentine
Birthday greetings bottle of wine?
If I’d been out till quarter to three
Would you lock the door,
Will you still need me, will you still feed me,
When I’m sixty-four?
You’ll be older too.
And if you say the word,
I could stay with you.
Thank You everyone. you were very helpful. In the end I chose to use Fragile by Sting.
