NSFW - Was porn ever successfully combined with anything better?

Please refrain from commenting if you don’t approve of anything and/or are a frigid person.
There is of course a lot of porn that attempts to create a story but everyone knows this is bad. For quite some time now I’ve been interested in seeing something like a serious TV show turn completely pornographic. It would probably get old pretty quickly when you don’t agree with the canon pairing but it’s starting to feel like all good fiction is asexual. I might develop a fetish for boredom.

I don’t understand your question. What’s better than porn?
Totally not understanding the question.
If you want porn that seriously tried to have a decent story line then you want to look to the 1970s, like Opening of Misty Beethoven. If your looking for a pornographic television show… I dunno. Californication? Other than that, it’ll just be 1980s and up porn satire/takeoff of shows.
the only thing better than porn is having sex, therefore, the way to combine it would be to have sex while watching porn, prefferably while also eating chocolate and getting high.
Doesn’t seem that hard to understand to me but fine: What I’d like to see is sex as a part of life within a story. I don’t want it to be taken out of context. I don’t want porn with a story, I want a story with a decent (ironically this means filthy in this context) sex scene. I want a story I’d like without the sex, but WITH the sex. It’s like sex in a story is a wildcard taboo or something.
I love the idea of a great intelligent show with some sultry romps here and there. Some movies do a decent job of it but it doesn’t quite get to the pornographic level -
I watch porn movies for the plot .
I have a multimillion dollar idea. Seriously. There’s no way in hell I’m revealing it here, though, because someone in a position to snatch (no pun intended) it up and roll with it is bound to come across it—and steal it.
When I was a kid there was a TV show called Winky Dink. You put your magic screen (a sheet of plastic) on the TV, took your crayons and did what the announcer told you. “Okay kids! Look at the building. Now circle the windows where Winky Dink and his friend are hiding.” We’d circle the two windows and then the scene would change and our circles became wheels for a car. Crude interactive TV
I can imagine a similar crude interactive porn show called: Winky Dick.
Your job is to make Winky into Wonky.
I like the idea.. I’d watch a TV show/movie that had hard-core sex bits. I wish porn was more like that, anyway.
I think a porno opera would seriously rock.
Someone to watch it with.
I think a lot of us would love some of our favorite movies’ sex scenes to be creatively graphic.
What confused me about the questions was the “combined” part. And that’s just for the simple fact that as soon as you have real sex on camera then it’s pornography. So, you could have a movie with high production values, excellent visual effects, a beautiful script, and people who can act, but as soon as you get some penetration it’s going to be pornography. Or an art film. Both of which are death at the box office.
I don’t want to be a kill joy (seriously) but it’s not going to happen. Not as long as we (the collective “we”) have hang-ups about sex.
Even though the porn industry probably has enough money to really crank up the production values, it’s not really in their best interest. Even the attempts at a real script and story from the 70s and early 80s failed. The main audience isn’t interested in a story, they just want to see people fucking.
Not to mention that anyone who even thinks they have a shot of being an actor wouldn’t do it because it would probably be the end of their career. I guess the same goes for directors and such, even though they could go with a pseudonym since they’re not generally on camera.
Your best bet would have been to have one of the “big hitters” of mainstream naked women, say Penthouse, who have a lot of money to throw around, hire an established actor or two, like Malcom McDowell, a script by an established author that had a controversial movie under his belt and a nifty name, sort of like Gore Vidal, and hope the novelty could carry it.
The big problem is, of course, the hypocrisy surrounding sex. Nobody watches it because it’s sick and evil, and yet the industry makes money hand over fist. I don’t have statistics handy, but I’m pretty sure the majority of adults in this world have sex.
I will say that plot-based or high production quality porn does exist, though it doesn’t seem to capture more than a niche market of mostly women. Good Vibrations has an interesting selection of porn that varies from just sex to ones you could classify as ‘films’, with plots.
I’ve always been really curious, but never have actually ordered one.
You can look into feminist porn, they sometimes have plot lines. There’s some lesbian and some straight. Those are just a couple of links, there’s more out there.
Or you could just start watching HBO/Showtime shows – they have quite a lot of sex scenes thrown into the episodes.
and as we move into the saga of 3-D…...
Ah, yes. @uberbatman makes a good point. For a lot of sex, and a plot, and lots and lots of laughs (but probably not something that will get you hot) watch Hot Skin and enjoy Harry Balls – Harry balls who? Anyone he wants to!
Y Tu Mamá También has quite a bit of sex in it and is widely considered a quality film, but not pornography—not to say that I don’t think pornography can be quality. There are other great films with some pretty raunchy sex scenes, but admittedly they’re few and far between.
Greta Christina recently wrote a lovely blog post about the influence of porn and sex on Lady Gaga’s music videos.

One of the writers for @MyNewtBoobs’ link (Hot Skin) was Mark Thunderbuns. Hee!
The Internet.
Hello?
Where have you been??
; )
European or Australian TV shows and evening “soap-operas” (I assume New Zealand as well). Maybe not quite to the level of X-rated. Shows that are for grown-ups, unlike what is shown in the US.
It’d be better if the porn was actual lovemaking between the characters, which I’ve also pretty much not ever seen in porn, which always looks like some mechanical excessive weird perversion of lovemaking. Seems like it’d be a bit off to have semi-believable sitcom characters who then have surreal porn-like sex scenes… oh wait, seems like True Blood is a miniseries that essentially has that (but also werewolves and vampires).
There are some films that have a lot of sex scenes in them, and aren’t horribly done. The Lover comes to mind.
I get the question, another example of society not knowing what it looks like when it leaves the mirror. As noted, I can say most people like sex and go on the record saying such. However, when it comes to seeing sex people start to get timid. Overt sex used daily on society in ads for nearly everything is quasi OK. As long as there is no pubis, nipple (or its indents), penis, etc. showing, it is tacitly approved. If the Labia Majora is seen then it starts to get dicey but even then, some can stomach it. Let the Labia Minora be visible all heal will break loose. Sex is something at the top of the list when people meet, even though they want to believe otherwise, they try to get doing it by the third date or certainly three to four weeks into a relationship. It is not like no one cares for it, it is supposed to be natural between agreeable adults, but to see someone actually doing it and not just simulated where they are doing everything the bodies gyrating in the right way, the moans and grunts correct, just under the sheets with a bra on (the most unrealistic parts of the whole thing), the bedroom scene is expected or desired, so long as you get the counterfeit version. There are many movies you could have had full-blown sex scenes and the movie would have still been a good movie, ”Monster”, ”Eyes Wide Shut”, ”Bound”, ”Looking for Mr. Goodbar”, ”Monster’s Ball”, etc. Society is just wishy-washy when it comes to the subject it likes most. That is the reason why no matter how serious the film you will never see actual sex as it actually is because outside the bedroom, hotel room, back alley, under the bleachers, or wherever people have sex in private, it is pornographic, and that would be box office death. They give you an imitation, counterfeit drug that gives you enough of a high to keep coming back, but you never get the real uncut stuff.
